Starting today, at Target (see flyer), the Kyocera Hydro Android 3G phone will be at $9.99 (Reg. 59.99). I know previous deals from Radioshack have hit the front page.

For more details, http://www.target.com/p/boost-kyo...A-14782670

Besides the phone, this can be used for other uses (see http://slickdeals.net/f/6559288-kyocera-hydro-prepaid-smart-phone-9-99-at-target-b-m-70-off?v=1)

Cheers!

Looking for custom ROMs for your new Hydro/Hydro Edge? Well sign here and hopefully developers will be able to make some sooner. [change.org]

This phone will not work on AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile. It only runs on Sprint's network and is locked to Boost Mobile.

For those with R+ (ringplus phone service) question:
R+ does NOT officially support non Sprint branded phones. Some have luck activating on R+, some reported they have been kicked from R+. I do know for certain that R+ now contains better database of phones model, which previously it didn't. So, checking esn on R+ will label it as Boost Hydro xxxxxx yyyy, which will be listed as part of your R+ account profile/"Device Details" if activated. Currently, unable to modify the device details. It maybe or NOT be even activated now. Even if activated, you may/may not be kicked out of R+.
So do it at your own risk.

It would be awesome to get Cyanogenmod for the Hydro and Hydro Edge. If anyone can contribute to that by developing or getting the word out, that would be awesome!

So, am I understanding that you can use this phone as a stand alone camera and an android device? I think I might get one to keep in the car so that on longer than normal trips (traffic, traffic, traffic) I could have something with games on it for my son.

Last December, my Target sold out. Since this is an advertised special, W-mart will PM.
(Target will also print rainchecks). Never activated cell service - fun WiFi "toy".

The Kyocera Hydro, Event, and Rise are all essentially the same phone that have features swapped around...The Hydro has water resistance (duh, hydro is in the name), the Rise has the slide-out keyboard, and the Event has twice the memory of the others (4GB vs 2GB, if I'm not mistaken...although usable memory will vary)

* They all have Wifi, GPS, and run Android 4.0+ Ice Cream Sandwhich
* They'll all work to stream netflix/pandora/youtube, play MP3s, run as a standalone GPS (Try NavFree USA, has free unlimited offline turn-by-turn directions), make wifi calls, etc.

It is actually rated waterproof (not just water resistance). I have dropped it into a glass of water as a demo.
