Starting today, at Target (see flyer), the Kyocera Hydro Android 3G phone will be at $9.99 (Reg. 59.99). I know previous deals from Radioshack have hit the front page.

For more details, http://www.target.com/p/boost-kyo...A-14782670

Besides the phone, this can be used for other uses (see http://slickdeals.net/f/6559288-kyocera-hydro-prepaid-smart-phone-9-99-at-target-b-m-70-off)

Cheers!

So, am I understanding that you can use this phone as a stand alone camera and an android device? I think I might get one to keep in the car so that on longer than normal trips (traffic, traffic, traffic) I could have something with games on it for my son.
...here is an interesting story...and I'm not advocating it be done, nor am I admitting I've done it myself, but I have seen it done before on a friend's S4...there exist gameboy and other handheld emulator apps and game ROMs that allow gameboy games and such to be played on an Android device. A simple google search might shed more light on the matter. Just a harmless anecdotal story Big Grin

Believe it or not, I've still never owned a smart phone, although I have a very high quality regular one, on Verizon (off contract), but paying way too much a month for an unlimited plan. The review on the Kyocera says it's only 2" wide by 4.53" high. That sounds tiny for a smart phone. Could someone advise me whether I should consider this as a full time phone, and if so, what is the cheapest avenue for getting unlimited talk. Limited text and internet are acceptable.

It is actually rated waterproof (not just water resistance). I have dropped it into a glass of water as a demo.
I realize it's listed as waterproof...haha, ironic you point that out as I purposefully put resistant instead so as not to attract criticisms that waterproof is too strong a descriptor. Personally, I always choose to avoid statements such as "proof", "always", "never", etc, as logically speaking such terms create very weak conclusions that are easy to prove unsound with only a single example to the contrary. Just saying...although your experience does inspire a bit more confidence in it's abilities.

Can I use it on the Verizon network, Sprint network, etc.? I have a Motorola Droid 2 Global, but I guess that is too old to be called a smartphone.

Service Provider is Boost Mobile, powered by the Sprint Nationwide Network.
- some have reported activating on Ring+ (also Sprint).

i know its a running joke, but if these had hdmi output they would be a crazy awesome deal. $10 htpc's. but still, for gps, cameras, music and games they are still a fantastic deal. i have no idea how many of these they must have made, but its obviously a buttload of them.

been using one of these as a shower radio for a while. Great device I picked up a few spares when they were $5
WOW! Where & when did U score these for 5 bucks! I think they will make great lil' Android toys for $10! Waterproof is awesome my bro is a fishing guide & always ruining his pre-paids on the job!

Wonder if I could go buy a bunch today and just price match tomorrow?
Yeah I was thinking the same thing! Target will sell out for sure! So will all these stores thru PM'ing!

Last December, my Target sold out. Since this is an advertised special, W-mart will PM.
(Target will also print rainchecks). Never activated cell service - fun WiFi "toy".
Awesome I totally forgot about PM'g to Walmart to as well as RS & BB!

B&M only?
It doesn't start until Sunday so maybe they'll change price online after midnight but it looks as if this an in-store ONLY product!

Hey has ANYBODY got their Sunday paper yet early with the AD or flyer so we can have a scan or PDF up here for PM'ing since the online page still showing the $59.99 price? I usually don't get my Sunday paper till late this afternoon but will look for it and upload a scan if nobody else here does first! Thanks & Repped again OP!

I can't wait to buy a few of these to gift & play with! If one could PM to RS and get the 6-months Netflix w/o activating or with free activation that would just be a bonus! Do we know if Target, Walmart or Best Buy is going to try and force that BS mandatory activation like some Radio Shacks have been doing? This time I really actually just want the phones & not getting free Netflix is not a deal breaker since I already have nearly 8 years worth of legit 6-month dots between 2 accounts from the RS deal but it can't hurt to try since every RS is diff!

How does activation (or no activation) work with this at Target? I just want to buy the phone and walk out without activation and without being hassled at Target.
