How does that compare to IPS/PLS for gaming only?
Also I know the 1440p nazis will say 1080p on a 27" isnt good for general use. but is it good for gaming?
AMVA is probably best for mainly gaming and some desktop. For power gamers, TN is still hands-down the best for the response time.
The MVA response time is better than IPS, the contrast of MVA is top-notch, usually 2-2.5x the static contrast ratio of IPS panels and about the same as top-end TN panels. MVA has far better color accuracy than TN.
Viewing angles aren't anywhere near as good as IPS (still gets contrast/color inversion at +/- 45 degrees, despite the +/- 89 degree claim). But not horrible like the +/- 15 degrees that you get with TN before you get color shift.
dang and i just bought the VN279QL from overstock for 264 D: hopefully i can make use of the tilt and height adjusting stand enough that it's worth the extra 40+ bucks ><
ps. /agree about the bezel, omg it's beautiful. and the only 'calibration' i had to do was go into settings and turn off vividpixel cuz it looks terrible (it was set on 25). now it looks perfect and for someone who went from 24" inch to 27" just this week, i can't see the blurry text at 1080p that people keep talking about
