Hello,

Found this on Howard Forums

If you are a AAA member you can recieve 5% off your monthly verizon bill. If you have more than one phone on the account(ie family share) they can only add it on the main account.

This worked for my area (NW Ohio) and reportedly works in many areas.

Call 1-800-465-4212

Option 2 for me was to inquire about a AAA discount.

*edit I got it as an existing customer.

If the CSR says you can only do this when getting a new account thank them and try again.

I believe you may also get free activation if you are opening a new account but cannot say for sure.

Enjoy

I'd love it if works for existing customers. I'll give it a try!

I got a recorded message saying "this number is not availble from your area" (Oregon). Use this link [verizonwireless.com] to find the toll-free Customer Service number for your area.

I currently get a discount through my company (I believe it's 10%). Does anyone know whether or not Verizon will honor more than one of these discounts at the same time?

Did anyone have any luck with this?

the only way to find out is to give it a try...Verizon has one of the best customer service ever and I'm sure they'll be able to answer your questions without hassling you. I'm getting 17% thru my company too, but too bad i'm not a AAA member, otherwise I'd ask them about it too.

You'd do best to call during normal business hours

I called and found out that there's a 15% discount I'm supposed to be getting from my employer, but it wasn't being applied correctly. They credited 2 months worth or the 15% to my account and made sure that it will be applied to all future bills. I'm going to call tomorrow during regular business hours because I've been working for my company for over 24 years and have never gotten a discount in the 6 years I've been a Verizon customer. I'm going to see what they say when I ask for a credit for the last 6 years worth of billing.

Aside from that they told me that if there is a discount through AAA, I would have to call AAA's customer service and have it applied from their end. I did this and was told they don't have any discounts available for Verizon Wireless. But I'll try again tomorrow anyway and hope for a different answer.

I think its your responsibility to get the discount to apply. If you applied the discount 6years ago then I could see you trying to bitch to get some credit. I have verizon, had it for almost a year before I found my emplorer gives 19% discount, I called verizon up and had to do some verification that I worked there then the discount was added. In this case it was my fault for not applying the discount sooner, not verizon and I wouldnt try to get a years worth of credit from them.

They will only honor one discount at a time. My wife works for Tenet HealthCare [10%] and I work for the U.S.G. [8%]. We were told several times that we can only use one qualifier.

I am looking to get Verizon, I am in WA state. Ive been holding out for a REALLY good deal. For the current customers, can you tell me what a 'really good verizon deal' is? All they have now is a camera phone for $29. I'd be getting 2 phones and it would be a shared plan with me and my husband. I just havent been watching the cell phone deals and hate to sign up now and then see a great deal next month! Thanks!

if i were u, i wouldn't get the family shared plans...you split the minutes between the two of you so whatever minutes you have is usually only half of that. family share plans used to be good because you could call your family members in the same plan for free (if you call each other a lot). But now that they have unlimited mobile to mobile calling, you don't have to worry about that. you can call anyone who has a verizon wireless phone for free. i used to have a family share plan with my gf too, but found out that it would be a better deal if we split it up into separate plans.

That's just my opinion though. others may think family share plans are better.

Yea don't sign up for familyshare.. just not worth it anymore. And find out if your employer offers any discounts, usually when they offer the % discounts they have select phones really cheap too. When I signed up for the 20% discount my employer offers they had some pretty cool phones on sale, just not the one that I wanted. So I bought the V710 from verizon and just got the discount applied to my bill. Almost $10 off a month!

For you guys that got discounts through your employers, did your employer tell you about it or did you find that info somewhere? I work for a bank, and banks are notoriously cheap, so I'm not sure if mine will do anything for me but it can't hurt to ask, right?

Thanks for the heads up!
