I carry First Edition products at my store. They are bred by a company called Bailey Nurseries. They breed a good product and have been in the industry forever.
Thanks for the link op! Even if this turns out to be a dud it will be interesting to see what one of my distributors is giving out for free.
no clue if this is a scam or not, any idea on the size of the drive, am figuring at most 256mb, maybe, just maybe 512mb
No, marketing. First editions is selling hopefully patented, new plant varieties. These are at a premium, and there are several "branding" premium plants lines out there competing in the market. However, there is also a relatively recent move to trademark the names of plants by the originators or even just the licensees (Gurneys is one example) , and after 12-18 years (plant patents are 20 years but they don't get to market overnight) anybody can propagate and sell the plant, but the trademark remains in force so it has to be sold under a different name which makes it much harder to comparison shop.
With certain exceptions there will be previous cultivars/hybrids over 20 ears that are typically just as nice as the current varieties, and if you know how to shop for plants they can cost 1/2 or even only 1/4 as much. The biggest exception to that is with fruits and plants for commercial farming, both for improved yield/harvesting characteristics, and for disease resistance (and GMO's but that is purely the realm of commercial farming). In general it's best to look up a cultivar you have noticed at a store online. Two very nice communities are GardenWeb and Dave's Garden, and also your state agriculture dept/land grant university.
