Is this a good deal? I've been looking for my first rifle.

Edit: seems like retail is $650. Don't mean to dreadcap or anything, just wondering.

The other day he also thumbed down the Ruger SR22 Gun AND Ammo deal because the gun didn't come with ammo...
That's right. I was in that thread too.

Acknowledging Jeffafah is a troll, Amal did set off my 5.56 ammo alert with a false positive. I really don't need another AR, but ammo is a consumable and a;ways welcome at the right price :-)

Any chance we can come to a compromise on what identifying tag to put in the title?
Might I suggest below:

GUN or GUNS if it is a firearm only related post.
AMMO if it is an ammo only related post
GUNS & AMMO if it is a firearm with ammunition related post.

Amal, if you still want to put guns & Ammo can you at least add 'amal' to the tags so those who want to, can adjust their deal alert filter based on the presence of that tag?

The reason I ask is I (and possibly others) get the alerts at work and in my case any gun/ammo related sites are blocked and you get rapped on the knuckles by the content filter if you try to access. Alerts cause me to have to step outside to pick up an unblocked WiFi signal and see what the deal is about without having to deal with that stupid block.

It has been at $580-ish delivered from a few different places for a while. And if you're getting your first rifle may I suggest looking at the M&P 15-22? It looks just like a regular AR15 but is about $200 cheaper, and it also uses .22LR ammo which is much cheaper to learn and practice with. And then after a while if you find you want to upgrade then get the M&P 15 Sport. They are both fantastic rifles.

I have the Sport, and it is a good basic AR. It does not have a picatinny forend so if one wants to add lights, laser, bipod, etc. it will require some custom mods to make it all happen which will add to the cost, so it might not be the best platform for that. But for the person who just wants to keep the open sights or add a red dot and call it done, it is a great rifle with a great brand name (resale value?) and a good warranty.

The price is good, but not a super smokin' deal since it is the same price at grabagun.com and probably a few other locations. The good thing about SportsmansOutdoorSuperstore is that the price includes shipping, and they ship fast. I bought mine from them.

Who set an alert for "ammo" You need to get a bit more refined than that. Thumbs up on the deal.

You said tigger without referring to a gun trigger, in the guns AND ammo section. You should be barred from ever posting on slick deals again.

It can be bought for pretty cheap here in AZ, but places do have a very limited supply when they get it in. Even if you pay $0.20-$0.30/rd at the over inflated online prices, it's still half of what .223 ammo costs ($0.40-$0.50/rd) and just as fun to target shoot with.
