A pretty sweet deal for college students. Especially with the price bump from Pandora. It appears that they may actually check your student status instead of simple registration with .edu. Great addition to the amazon student deals as well.

Because it's hard to afford nice things when you're not (ostensibly) working (or working a decent number of hours)?

Anyone know a way to beat the verification system (sheerID?) I am a university employee, and it still didn't accept my credentials.
You're not a student. Why should you get student pricing?

You've never been a student who had to pay their own way through school and work absurd hours just to afford Ramen noodles, have you?

Education is vital the the success of society; companies offering motivated individuals a little break on something to help them keep their sanity is both good business (subscribers they might not have had otherwise) and a nice gesture for people who could definitely use a break.

Except that they (RDIO) want a social security number. The risk is not worth the discount.

They most likely can't afford the product at the usual price right now, but should be able to in a few years. Get them hooked now and they're unlikely to cancel once they can afford full price. It's similar to the free trial, but more spread out.
