craigslist android app suggestions

Well my beloved craigslistnotifica app while severely limited finally gave up the ghost. Even in its crippled state it was better than anything else out there. Originally it stopped working %100 but you could still pull the searches and then access the ad from a browser. It's interesting I've noticed that since craigsnotifica there really has not been an app that even comes close. Not only that I see very few apps that even stay on the market for long. This is fairly disappointing to me as I also have prob used this app more than any other since i got the original droid. I've tried pretty much every single app in the play store and none have the simplicity and the ease from craigsnotifica. I'm looking for an app that will periodically (say about every hour or so) listings for search words and update the search list and also to give a notification in the status bar. Many of the ones Ive tried advertise this but do not deliver. I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried mokriya craigslist? I personally don't use the alerts feature so can't say for sure if it works (I use rss feeds with greader for Craigslist alerts) https://play.google.com/store/app...craigslist

Mokriya advertises it does alerts. i was actually really excited when they claimed that, it seemed the closest thing Ive seen yet. Alas I'm lucky if i get one auto update a day from it. I'm gonna look into greader i used to use rss feed when opera 12 had the reader function and that seemed to work decently, but since craigsnotifica worked so well i never really had to bother with anything else. Thanks for the replies.

I found this thread while looking to see if there was a solution to my beloved craigsnotifica app also dying a couple days ago. I've resuscitated it every time it's failed in the past, but this time, I think it's gone for good.

Can anyone elaborate on the extension of the Chrome browser?

mandib i looked into the craigslist notification extension and it looks like it saves all your searches and gives you a pop up when the new matches are found you can set it to renew for whatever time period you want it to. Just wish i could find an app for my phone that does the same thing.

I would recommend greader then. Once you get the feeds setup for Craigslist (or any other site that supports rss "slickdeals") , you can set it to check at different time intervals and give you notifications. There is a free and paid version. The free version should do what you asked for. https://play.google.com/store/app...der.reader

I'm with you, on this. Was the best app they had, although it used to take some time 2 hours or after the items were viewable online (which I lost a couple of good buys due to the time lag).

I've been playing around with all the CL apps on the market, CPRO seems like the next best one. I created a search (as soon as it was viewable online it notified my phone of a new result).

The downside is that I haven't been able to find a way to clear/delete the search history, also when setting up a new search I cant seem to be able to search within my zip or nearby locations.

The $1.99 is worth it.

ubnpast totally in the same boat shelled out the 1.99 for the plus version and yes its doing the job. it does for some reason do a lot of repeats it seems but at the end of the day I guess id rather have too many updates than too few; think i need to get a better grasp of how the app works.

Same here, favorite and most used app.
Even when crippled for about the last year.
Stopped getting any updates 4 days ago.

Is the source code available? Love to see this on source forge.

What a tragic loss of my favorite app.

I'm yet another user of the app. So far I've found that if you set a search term blank for a category it will still pull all the adds in that category for all the locations you setup. But if you add any filtering it will not work. So I figure something changed with craigslist on the way it expects the rss search url to be formatted.

Hopefully someone can get in touch with the developers and get the app released open source since they have abandoned the app. However I imagine that this won't happen since there was discussion of Craigslist seeking action against all unlicensed craigslist apps. Wouldn't be surprised if the developer agreed to abandon the app as to avoid legal troubles.
