First trip to vegas. Help me get the best bang for my bucks!
Heading to Vegas in April or May for a 2-3 night vacation. Looking for input on how to navigate hotels and get the most out of my money. Places to eat, shows to see etc. Not sure I will gamble much..maybe $100-$200. Thanks
If you are looking for a cheap place to stay on the strip, you can't beat the Quad for location and price although the quality of the rooms leave something to be desired.
As far as cheap eats. Try the steak special at Ellis Island. You get a steak and beer for like 8 or 9 bucks.
For gambling, the Cosmopolitan has a $100 loss rebate on machines. If you lose a $100 they give you a $100 in freeplay. Sign up for their players card, take your $100 go and try to win at a slot machine or VP or whatever. If and when you lose it go back to the players club and they will load $100 into free play on your card. Take that to a video poker machine, use basic strategy and you should get like 90 bucks back to cash out after you run through your freeplay.
If you now feel that you have the gambling bug go over to the tropicana as they have a similar deal.
edit: also check sites like groupon for discounted eats and drinks
play myvegas on facebook if you have extra time....you can earn free hotel nights, shows and food for MGM properties. I did it last year and had an almost completely free trip! You don't have as much time but could still earn a freebie or 2.
I really like the mirage and Monte Carlo for inexpensive hotels. They are both in a great location with easy access to either side of the strip.
Food...hard to save on unless you hit up the cheap buffets, or $10 steak dinner places. I've never tried those types of places so can't give any insight. I used a few comps last year from MyVegas to get 3 of our meals for free...helped save quite a bit.

MGM and total rewards gives pretty good comps, especially if you're new. Any cirque de soleil show is good. Cosmopolitan, aria, planet Hollywood is for younger crowd. Rain club at the palms is good but expensive
Don't ever stay at Circus Circus or The Quad. If you want a deal and great value for your money, Monte Carlo is your best bet. Play myVEGAS on Facebook as well. I've accumulated well over 1 million gold LP and on my first trip, I had over $600 in free comps. My next trip will consist of 7 free rewards (wife and I both have accounts) which is about $600 in comps once again.
Hash House a Go Go at the Quad for breakfast... soooo good.
I agree this place is great for Breakfast.
Try a pancake if you can eat it all.
Mind you I did a say a pancake.
One fills your plate.
Yummy. I go there twice a year on my trips to Vegas.
On my way out this year to look at Condo's and town House's
almost time to retire.
MJ show is a must see!!!!!
You will pay for the duce and the monorail.
They just finished the Ferris Wheel ! I can't wait to do that.
25.00 to 35.00 depending on day or night.
There are a couple of free monorails...The one from Monte Carlo to Bellagio, another from Excalibur to Mandalay Bay and then one more from TI to Mirage. All though you may do more walking trying to get to the monorail than actually walking between hotels.
