oops sorry i searched but nothing came up

anyone know if i can use the slingbox 350 for the following purpose:

moved to NV from NJ and want to watch hockey games that are normally broadcast on MSG (local sports channel in NJ)...was hoping I can hook up the slingbox to my parents cablebox in NJ and then watch on my laptop in NV through the slingbox? (and then hook up laptop to TV via HDMI)

will this work? will it be HD?

I highly recommend those on the fence! Slingbox is awesome, especially for those that are in college or travel frequently.

Only difference between this 350 model and the 500 model is WiFi. 350 doesn't have WiFi, so if you're close enough to use an ethernet cord, it'll be the best value you'll receive.

No brainer if you have a kid in college, I have the slingbox 500, basically the same thing. My daughter uses it when she's away and absolutely loves it for her Ipad even though you need to buy the app. $99 is not even 2 weeks of my monthly cable bill. I just have it hooked up to the bedroom cable box so it does not interfere with our main TV viewing.

I was thinking of it the other way. if your kid is in college, sling her college dorm cable to your house lol

Do I need HDMI? Hows the quality on the 350? ? Currentl I hook up hdmi from direct tv dvr to tv. Can I use component wires from DVR to Slingbox 350 and still have HDMI from DVR to TV? I plan to just watch tv on my phone / laptop.

I'm just worried if quality is really bad on my phone / laptop without hdmi? Or can I buy a component to hdmi cable?

Depend on your parent's internet uplink. But why would you want to watch the Knicks lose in HD?

That is their download speed. Their upload speed is how fast they can send data out of the house and will be significantly smaller than their download speed.

Yes as long as you hook up component to the slingbox 350. Remember, whatever is on the TV will also be on the slingbox. The 350 does not have HDMI.

I have this from the last FP and it's great.
