Last time this was posted was about a year ago:

I thought I would re-post this because more people are switching over to TMO. And after reading the last post and talking to TMO tech support they ran out of them last year.

I have the older one that only works on T-Mobile branded phones. The newer model lets you use devices that you may have brought over from other carriers to TMO.

This doesn't boost data speeds, but boost the cell signal 3G/4G (not LTE, since LTE isn't used for voice calls) for voice calls. If you have at least one bar of 3G signal you should be able to qualify for this device. Not sure if it works on prepaid plans. My works and I have full bars in my house.

All the info is on TMO's page here:
https://support.t-mobile.com/comm...al-booster

Basically call in and tell them you want a signal booster because you only have one bar in your house.
They may charge shipping, but I can usually get my waived.

Product Page
http://cel-fi.com/product/cel-fi-...r-t-mobile

"How much does a Signal Booster cost?
T-Mobile makes Signal Boosters available at no extra cost to customers who meet certain qualifications."

"Can I still obtain a Signal Booster if I don't meet the qualifications?
You may also purchase one directly from Cel-Fi."

Cel-Fi list the price to be $575.00

Amazon $575.00 + $7.49 shipping
http://www.amazon.com/New-multi-l...B00DDZZFBI

They may substitute for the older model which I have and works just as good.

I just called. The two eligibility requirements were stated to me as follows:

1) Must get at least 1 or 2 bars of 3G/4G signal in home (by a window at least)*. If there is no signal to begin with, there is nothing to "boost".

2) Phone bill must be at least $50. My plan is above $50 but below $50 below discounts, and apparently I was eligible, so maybe YMMV depending on how closely the rep looks into it.

*The way the booster works is it has two pieces tethered together; one is placed by the window or wherever gets the strongest signal while the other is placed in a more central location of the home.

It was very easy, they didn't ask for anything else but YMMV as others have stated.

The refuse to give me one until we do substantial trouble shooting on the phones even though we only have a max 2 bar in and around our house.

If you look on some of the earlier posts, I know i posted something along the lines of what I went over with the rep that helped me at the time.

MAy help to just try different times, -shrugs- won't hurt Smilie-- or best option is to go into a tmo store, and tell them you need one, and ask them to order for you, this was offered to me at one store when I Was hoping to find one B&M, however ended up ordering over the phone; now-so you don't waste a trip to tmobile, call them ahead of time lol

let me know how it goes Smilie; may even be worth it to post on their forums or do 'chat' I've noticed that the forum/chat reps are sometimes more umm, 'knowledgeable' (Trying to be nice) haha and/or willing to help

they refused me one until they went out to check the towers around my neighborhood and then would get back to me in a few days.
but then I received a survey to complete in my email. I trashed the company and Cs big time and checked off I wouldn't recommend them, blah blah blah. I then get a phone call from another department pertaining to my survey. I told them about my reception at home and I really had no problem dropping them. Well you know the rest. I did get one sent. And I did get the phone call from the cs as promised and I told him I was getting the extender, he sounded surprised.

This is great.

So I called customer support shortly after I saw the OP's post and they said they'd "look into" the service in my area. They said they'd call back in a few days but never did. I kind of forgot about it.

Today I got an incoming call from a rep who said they would send me the booster for free (no shipping).

I expect to get some good use from this device since I do have some parts of my house where I lose signal but some parts where everything is great. Also I hope I can use it when traveling to help boost marginal reception in some places. It is too bad it doesn't also support GSM as some places in the boonies don't have 3G yet at all.

Thanks a bunch OP!

Awesome customer service rep but was told I was not eligible due to me being in an older house. Not sure if that's something for each area but I am in the Nebraska area which may have had some effect on their decisions.

Apparently they know "old" houses interfere with the signal and thus won't give it out to people in homes. Rep said that apartments are normally given boosters since signals can reach through?

This is still valid. Got mine completely free. Didn't have to ask for free shipping. Called the main number asked about the booster, got transferred to tech support. He asked about signal in my house and outside of it. Took about 20 minutes including hold time since he had to read all the disclosures. Should get it within a week.

Ice only had the unit for 3 weeks or so but I'm having issues. The 2ndary unit will show 7, 8, or 9. I saw 9 and decided to move it a few feet closer to the first unit. Anyways sometimes I see the red flashing lights. Anyone having similar issues? I got mine shipped for free, but will have to pay for return shipping. Don't want to get stuck with return and reship

same here. got it completely free, and since it shipped in state, it arrived the next day.

calling over wifi has never worked well, so we were looking for an alternative. we were a little skeptical about this, but holey buckets-- this thing is amazing!!

the best reading we could get on the booster was 5. it varies between 3-5, but we now have full bars and LTE all over.

Are the LTE versions in stock? Or just the normal ones?
