I notice there's a lot of cpu/mb/gpu deals and I want to make a really cheap htpc. My neighbor gave me a old amd 64 process 2.21ghz 3gb ram ddr1 emachine that is a piece of crap. I can't even load ubuntu on it. I load windows xp but if I reboot it I can't get it to fully boot up. I want to see if I can scrap anything off of it and build a budget htpc. I also have the following.
-emachine desktop for parts
-mac probook 2-2gb ram
-64 kingston ssd
-512 hd from mac probook.
I don't know if I want to use a mini itx and use the ram from my mac probook or use the emachine for parts and buy a cpu/mb/ram/psu. I'm a big time noob so any help will be great.
