Go to Microsoft education store http://www.microsoftstore.com/sto..._US/edu‎

Add the surface pro 2 to cart http://www.microsoftstore.com/sto....286866600

and applied the $100 off $599 coupon: graduation

That's a 10% plus $100 off.

The discount is not as good as first generation but 2nd gen has significant improved battery life and better performance, and the price has been steady.

Final price (before tax)
  • 64GB - $709
  • 128GB - $799
  • 256GB - $1069

A list of improvements on 2nd Gen is described here http://blog.surface.com/b/surface...pro-2.aspx

cause, as we all know... price is directly dictated by the OS version on the device, and given it's the current generation of the OS on this device.
good call.
good comment.

thanks for the input.

Really? Still with the windows 8 hate. It's a much more stable and quicker version of Windows than Windows 7, and the touch is great on devices like the Surface.

...Windows 8 is an absolute necessity for any Windows tablet.

I have a SP2 and like it a lot. For anyone interested, the 256 GB version also upgrades you from 4gb to 8gb RAM hence the larger price hike.

Tempting, however, the screen is too small. I can barely handle the 12.5 inch screen on my dell xps 12.

Good deal. Rep

How many of you that hate Windows 8 actually use it? I have Windows 8.1 and I love it. WTF? IQ not high enough to learn new shortcuts/way of using things?

Why would one use windows 8 if one hates it? I have dual boot w7 and w8 pro and I have not logged in to W8 more than 3-4 times in last 6 months

IMO, for a device whose main feature is portability, battery life means damn near everything but ymmv

The 10% educational discount is not applied when entering the coupon. I imagine you can get the same deal in their on-ground stores, but it's not working online anymore.
