The y40 was released earlier today, and the y50 not that long ago. Figured you all should know about it first!

There are three models, all with an Intel i7-4700HQ CPU and a NVIDIA GTX 860m GPU

Cheapest config for $1,299:

Processor
Intel Core i7-4700HQ Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
- Operating system
Windows 8.1 64
- Display
15.6" FHD LED Backlit Multitouch (1920x1080)
- Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB
- Memory
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
- Hard Drive
Hybrid 1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD
- Optical Drive
None
- Network Card
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160
- Bluetooth
Bluetooth Version 4.0
- Warranty
One year
- Battery
4 Cell 54 Watt Hour Lithium-Ion

My personal thoughts on the baseline y40 and y50?
y40: Awesome SSD; Not-so-great CPU (for a gaming computer)
y50: Awesome CPU and GPU; Chokingly-slow HDD and expensive

For that much, might as well pay $200 more and get a Razer.

Well it's $200 off - these are probably not going to be heavily reduced as there already seems to be demand and interest in these models .. Kind of like with the Yoga Pro's - no deep discounts because Lenovo is selling a ton of them.

Nope, this is with Lenovo's standard "always on sale" price. The baseline is currently listed as:
$1,499 - $200 = $1,299

Also I noticed that they are probably going to have more models - in the "Features" section, they say:

"Watch movies, burn music and photos, and load software and games without an internet connection with the integrated DVD or Blu-ray Discâ„¢ drive."

Even though none of the models says it has an optical drive. And strangely, on the "tech specs" for the Y50's - it says Optical Drive: External.

Also on the tech specs: Up to 15.6" UHD (3840 x 2160) Display ... But none listed have that UHD display.

So the 2gb gpu is maxwell and the 4gb one is kepler? Or do they have a 4gb kepler 860m now too? Eh, also, is the antiglare screen better than a glossy screen? Maybe I should wait on reviews.

The Razerblade appears to be $2200+ so where you getting $200 more from?

Ya I'll bet they wait and drop those higher end ones later once they phase out the Y410/Y510 models and also drop the prices when they do so. And ya I'm upset seeing that external optical listed because that likely means there is no 2nd bay for a 2nd full size HDD and that is a requirement for me to upgrade from my Y400 :

well, this is crazy depressing. I've been waiting for this laptop since january with the promise of it being an upgrade to the Y510p for $999. It offers almost nothing the Y510p doesn't and if anything is less powerful. Also the price is MUCH higher than they were originally stating even for the Y40. And still not UHD display. Frown I feel like this was one of the most disappointing launches ever.

Sigh I am disappointed that the 1080p and the 4k display are both TN panels. Frown

Also the 4gb GPU model seems to be a Kepler as per reports of folks interacting with the customer service.

I see what you mean on price but don't agree with the less powerful, it's most certainly more powerful with the much better GTX 860GPU. UHD display would be insane on a small screen imo, especially for gaming there's now way shiz would run good at that res lol so not sure why you are wanting that really unless you had a way to do like tri SLI GTX.
