There is also a $15 rebate is for high mileage and full synthetic versions not the blend in the coupon special. However, it might be worth a shot to see if it goes through.

WTf is a synthetic blend? Is that their lowest one? I think I usually get the middle level(high mileage) and they have one above right(full synthetic)?

Synthetic blend is what it sounds like. It's a mixture of both synthetic and conventional motor oil. How much of it is synthetic and how much is conventional is usually not specified. So, it could be mostly synthetic (doubtful), half-half, some synthetic, or not much at all.

I changed my oil today and presented this coupon, they said some BS that 0-20 is a 'premium oil' and would cost me $45, I said BS and he took $10 off.... Still maybe you'll have more success than me but don't let them BS you into thinking paying more than twice for some basic oil.

Also the difference between 0-20 and 5-20 is that it's better for winter months because 0-20 stays liquid at colder temp than the conventional 5-20.

Call and find out....

But, to the general public, I recommend that you look to see that firestone is actually doing what's on the coupon.

I trusted a firestone nearby my work a few times w/coupons. I was on my way to a 3k road trip and did the oil change + rotation. Something told me to mark the two front tires w/a piece of white out. Took it in there, waited the 30+ mins....tires in the same spot.

I was like tires get rotated? "yea"
Coupon said to rotate the tires... "yea"
My front two tires didn't get rotated...see the markings? "whoops, I thought they got rotated..."

Now, imagine if I didn't do such a thing! They would have got out on me and I'd traveled 3k miles putting added pressures on my tires that could have been alleviated from the door!

So yea, if you're going to take advantage of these things....be the person at the window gawking at the tech. It's your car!

thanks for the heads up. I can't believe how many mechanics are total unethical about these things, it's not like they're not getting paid to do their job.

synthetic "blend" is usually only about 10% synthetic in my experience

I never understood the importance of oil weights. I know the viscosity and temp ranges can vary but I've used everything from 5w20 up to 10w40 and every multi grade you can think of in between those two on my car. After 200k, car still runs well and I haven'thad any eng ine problems. If there is engine wear, it must be too small to notice, or it won't be found until far after the car has given its serviceable life. As long as you change regularly and don't abuse, I'vebeen hard pres sed to find any engine damage reported from anyone due to using incorrect oil weights.
