Yep, you only need one or the other, not both.

I love having both. Sam's and Costco have their strengths and weaknesses in products/prices. I have a Sam's membership and my friend has a Costco membership. We use the extra card to shop at both. We get the best of both worlds.

And they send the brochure in the mail and email so there's no reason to post this. But it's nice to see these things almost every month now.

Where I live, they only let us have half a world, nearest Costco is 80 miles away.

Well, been using both membership cards for several years, but honestly speaking my friends use my Costco membership cards more often than he uses his Sams membership or I use his Sam's membership.
I agree few items are good Sam's club but like Costco own brand Kirkland compare to Sam's brand rated better than some of the brand names products. Sam's club own brand is basically like Wal-Mart items not as good as Costco.

I go to Sam's club more for mainly 3 reasons: better men's clothing, better bakery, deli meat, better place to eat(Costco pizza is pretty bad), and tobacco. Most of the other areas are about the same, just different selection. I will agree Kirkland brand is better than Member's Choice, which is the reason I buy my dog food at Costco.

Of course there's a reason to post these and please keep it up OP. As this is SlickDeals I am too cheap to pay for a Costco or Sam's membership. I have Costco through my mother's acct as of last month but not Sam's so I don't get these in the mail.

I have historically gone to the clubs as a guest of a member. Anyway - a person might see a deal worth getting a membership for because of a post such as this. I don't mind seeing Fry's B&M though there are none around me. They still give me an idea of what the price I should be aiming to pay might be.
