Thanks for sharing OP. The "Polypropylene Bottom" makes me a little nervous though. Anybody have experience with this model?

Bosch - Never, never, again. Maybe the earned their reputation long ago but they are coasting now - Break often, expensive to repair, very difficult to DIY, surly support reps - and unless they have fixed the venting issue, don't put it underneath anything but a true solid counter-top. If you do get one - make sure and buy the longest extended warranty you can afford.

This is their cheapo model. I have a Bosch dishwasher alert, but I'd recommend holding out for a sale on the 300, 500, or 800 which are their premium tier and use higher quality components.

Not sold on the Ascenta:

Haha, really? I've heard quite the opposite from just about anyone, that Bosch is the only dishwasher worth owning.

And the Boschs I've seen vent back to the tub, I'm not sure how you're blowing up countertops unless you're breaking the upper seal.

The 800 series is on sale as we'll and can be had for about $680-$690 installed after rebate and coupon. I think that's a pretty good price

How do you order online and get the installation on the same receipt? The Bosch installation rebate says you need both on same receipt which means you have to go to store? Lowe's website says that you have to call some phone number to get installation. No options to buy.

i used to work in a food lab where we used dishwashers a lot. and we had several in our labs, all of the maytag, kenmore, whirlpool ones we used all crapped out very early in their life (Most within a year).

i bought this dishwasher 2 years ago (Slightly better SD deal). it is the BEST dishwasher we have EVER owned. It cleans well and is quieter than anything i have ever heard. u can stand right next to the dishwasher and not even know it is on. noise is critical for us as we have an open floor plan home so noise travels EVERYWHERE.

No concerns at all over the Polypropylene Bottom. in fact i believe that contributes to the ultra low noise level. 90% of the interior is still stainless steel.

read the reviews on lowes. 4 stars with 114 reviews.

bosch are CONSISTENTLY rated among the highest dishwasher brands by MANY websites.

if bought a new house today i would replace the dishwasher with the exact same one i have now.

I see Bosch highly rated by Consumer Reports and the Maytag generally panned or middle-of-the-pack. Yet Home Depot and Lowe's customers rate Maytag/Whirlpool way higher than the Bosch. In fact, I bought the Maytag MDB8959SBS based on the real world #1 rating on Home Depot and Lowe's and there are way many more of them. Sort by ratings, and you'll see what I mean. Wink
