I bought this last time it was on the front page, and it is a great camera, easy to set up, lots of great features for "marking" spots and setting up tracking routes, and the phone app and web interface are both very intuitive and easy to use. The two way voice isn't that great, but it can be improved by orienting the wifi antenna horizontally, instead of vertically. (And I just got another! Great price!)

Word of warning to everyone

I picked up a couple of these cameras on a deal a few months ago. The security of these cameras is terrible.

The cameras you receive will be completely insecure until you patch. There's a bug in the web interface of the software version you receive which allows full admin access via an interface bug. DO NOT TURN ON THE D-DNS SERVICE UNTIL YOU PATCH. I wouldn't turn it on even after for other reasons, but the main reason you don't is with Shodan I can find the cameras via scanning the web range they use for cameras. Plenty of cameras are still vulnerable to this, combined with the DDNS service and the predictable web addresses, you can look through the window of many individuals with these cameras.

Lastly, connecting to the camera is in plaintext username:password in the URL. You can enable and use HTTPS, but HTTPS does not protect the URL. As of this time I know of no way of securely connecting to the camera feed directly, as such i've VLAN'd the cameras and deny external access.

If anyone has further advice on how to use these cameras please tell me. I'm using iSpy to collect and store the video via h264/vlc stream, but the software has a serious memory leak, I have to restart it every day or so.

*edit* As a positive, the nightcam feature looks pretty good. It's the best part of the system to me, out of the couple of cameras i've tried these have the best nightvision.

I am no security expert, but I have mine with the password and https. Obviously the https doesn't do much other than maybe ensure your communication is secure. Then I have to enter my password to get access. I don't know of this password in the URL thing you are speaking of. I'll investigate more.

I've had issues with the 720p versions of the foscam. Random lockups and other issues. I'm back to using the 640 resolution cameras instead. The lower res ones also had lockups, but not nearly as severe, and they seem isolated to brownouts/brief power loss.
