Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share. This bundle deal is $34 cheaper than any previous deal ever posted for this Netgear Router!

Warning: On or before 5/18, the expiration date on the $60 Total Defense rebate (TD9-10176) was changed from 5/31 to 5/18. A new $50 rebate appeared in the registration system on the morning of 5/19 (TD9-10180 [4myrebate.com]; valid 5/19-6/30), however this is not advertised and no instruction sheet is available. All combos were removed from Newegg later in the day. See the master thread for any developments.
This deal is also Premier & Shop Runner eligible.

Netgear Rebate Details:
Limit 1 Per Household for Netgear Rebate (Offer #56230)
Rebate is valid 05/13/14 to 05/19/14
Requires Original UPC from Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router (R7000).

Total Defense FAQ:
  • Q: I've submitted a Total Defense rebate before. Am I eligible for this deal?
A: Yes, as long as you have not submitted offer TD9-10176 before. This is offer is new for May 2014, so you are safe if you haven't purchased Total Defense at Newegg during May 2014.
  • Q: I have purchased Total Defense in the past. Do I need to create a new Total Defense account?
A: In most cases you can add a new subscription to your existing account. Simply use the same email address and password when activating online. If you prefer you can create a new account each time.
  • Q: Do I need to install the software?
A: No, online activation as described below is sufficient.

Instructions to Avoid Common Mistakes for the $60 Rebate:
Activation is required prior to rebate redemption. This will require a valid credit card. A one-year subscription is included so this will not cost extra if you cancel the automatic renewal service.
  1. After receiving the software, activate online [totaldefense.com] or by installing. You card will not be charged but there will be a 30-day, $1 authorization. During this process you will sign up for their automatic renewal service.
  2. Submit rebate
    • As requested, submit your Newegg invoice or the packing List (not the order confirmation).
    • The only UPC required for the Total Defense bundle rebate is the Total Defense UPC.
    • Avoid taping over the print on the Total Defense UPC. Acrylic tape can cause thermal labels like the Total Defense UPC to fade. Hot melt tapes such as Scotch brand packing tapes (except "moving & storage") do not cause this problem.
    • As always, scan/copy everything that you submit.
    • Note that the rebate address must match your billing address.
  3. Use the link on your Total Defense account page to "Cancel Automatic Renewal Service" [totaldefense.com]. Doing this will not impact your rebate. You may receive an error message if you try to cancel too soon after activation; try again later. It can take anywhere from a couple seconds to a couple days for the error to clear up. Sometimes ARS takes a while to activate and you will see an expiration date even though you did not successfully cancel yet; try again later. A successful cancellation will change "Never" on the account page to a date.
  4. Track your rebate:
    • You can use the "Check Rebate Status" link in the email titled "Rebate Registration Confirmation".
    • You can also enter your information for the $60 rebate at totaldefense.4myrebate.com [4myrebate.com] (not at www.4myrebate.com).
    • Your documentation should be received within a few weeks. If not you need to follow up ASAP.
  5. Receive rebate
  6. Cancel Automatic Renewal Service if not already done.
  7. One year from activation: subscription automatically expires without additional charges.

I need a new GREAT router. Mine has gotten to the point of cutting you off when IT wants. It does all our equipment like that except for the desktop that is wired.

hmm wonder if I should cancel the $153 one. Is $33 worth the risk and time of rebate rising $47 instead.

This is amazing fast router compared to N66. My only problem so far is range on 5ghz as compared to N66. Maybe it's buggy initial tomato build. Tomato interface is better than dd-wrt.

I have been using once since past 8 months. It has been excellent. They do update the firmware once in a while to fix issues. This is an excellent price for an awesome product. The only big issue I feel is when the hard drives are connected and router is rebooted it messes up something and the files go missing. I ensure I remove the drives before I update the firmware now but maybe it has been fixed.

I was excited to see a good deal on this router (that I didn't miss for once) but holy crap. I thought this router was supposed to be the best out? Almost every single review on Newegg for multiple pages is complaining about the router randomly dropping connections/rebooting itself. That's unacceptable for someone who needs a consistent internet connection for work. Frown

My Asus N66 was completely unreliable. Despite having the latest firmware, it regularly, and randomly, disconnected. Further, people bringing new devices to my house could not connect, because for some reason it did not like them. I had the same issue with new devices I added to my system, like chromecast and new computers and tablets. The Netgear is more reliable, and more powerful on the 2.4 band. It reaches all my IP cameras, where the N66 needed a repeater.

my 190 rt-ac66u is a piece of crap atm.. thing is giving me horrid speeds all of a sudden.

Been trying to get ahold of their tech support but sit on wait for hours , leave messages for a call back and nothing.. Great router when it worked but im getting 3mb DL speeds and .03 upload.

My lan line gets 55mb and 6up...

need this RMAd fast.

now that im pondering this, how is this Netgear Router?? Im debating getting my Asus RTac66u RMA and selling it on ebay when I get it fixed and buying this one?
