Lowest price I've seen on this model this year. Previous threads on this refrigerator have been for $899.99.

May be able to use the same discounts as mentioned in other Sears appliances threads ($50 off, $50 in points).

This is for those who don't want an ice/water dispenser taking up freezer space. This Kenmore 41153 model is a rebranded Whirlpool WRS325FNAM.

Correct. Kenmore Model # begins with 106.xxxx (check the owner's manual), which makes it a Whirlpool. I wonder why Consumer Reports doesn't divulge that information.

We bought one of these exactly 2 years ago and to this day it holds more (and keeps it far better organized) than our new (and far more expensive) 32 cu ft French door model. Would recommend without hesitation.

Hi if you dont mind I have a series of questions to ask you since I am in the market for one too.

1. Do you know if the temp is steady throughout a hot sunny day?

2. Is it noisy?

3. Any service done?

4. Does it smudge easily?

5. Lastly, what dont you like about it(gotta be at least one lol)?

Rep will be given ofcourse. Thanks

out of the fridges in the sub-$1000 range, which is best that HAS the ice-maker and water? that Kenmore 51123 seemed to have some bad reviews...is Whirlpool much more reliable than Frigidaire?

Temp control was superb (I know because I had the little square metal and glass thermometers in 3 different areas in the fridge and 1 in the freezer - and they were always at the correct temperature). Also the fridge was not at all noisy. Smudges - yes, and when you think you've cleaned them up, you look at it with light at a different angle and you have other swirls and marks from cleaning, so stainless cleaner is assuredly the order of the day (plus you kind of get used to the smudges and stop seeing them after a while).

Recalling that we had the model with the ice maker in the door, that went bad pretty quickly (about a year in) and since we bought the warranty we had Sears come out and look at it. They came out 6 times in total, replaced everything you can think of, including motherboards, entire ice-making mechanism. front panel, switches, valves - just a ton of stuff - and the ice-maker would still not work, so they gave us credit for the MSRP price (!) rather than the sale price we paid - which we then added $400 to, to buy the French door unit (on sale of course).

We moved the side-by-side fridge downstairs (yes, they leave it and they even moved it downstairs for us, and we use it to store all kinds of refrigerated and frozen items we can now buy more of and store in there when they go on sale. It's like a refrigerated pantry - and still works perfectly (other than the ice-maker).

The point that I was making though was that I was super-surprised when we took everything from the 25 cu ft side-by-side and moved it to the 32 cu ft french door we discovered that what we had in the supposedly smaller fridge would just barely fit into the so-called larger fridge and was far less accessible there than when it was in the side-by-side.

So would I buy this again. Yeah I would. And as you might suspect, I also consider the warranty as being well worth the cost. (At least for us) Sears really did back us up on this purchase - to the point where if all other things were equal I would probably buy the Sears again just to be able to buy the warranty.

Ice makers on many units really suck, even the expensive models. Listen to the reviews. I have a Kitchen Aid and the ice maker is average at best.

exactly

but for a non-counter depth unit a water/ice version is probably only about $50.00 more

Wow, I didn't know you could still get a side-by-side refrigerator without an ice maker.

Frigidaire brand is horrible...I had one that within 13 months had to have $400 worth of work done to it. Outside of the 1 year warranty by 1 month. Would never buy that brand again. Have an LG now and love it.

Is it better bang for the buck to get an old style top freezer with ice maker? Need one for a rental. Not excited about spending $1000. Maybe better off with something cheaper?

We have a 12 year old 26 cu ft Samsung and just bought a 28 cu ft since we like it so much and going stainless steel. Keeping the old one in the garage. Quiet, no temp issues.
