If you're interested in a 6A 4 port charger, the Inateck one I posted last night is only $9.99.

This 5 port is an 8A charger though, and has a cable instead of directly plugging into the outlet.

Not the same as the anker... anker will put out max power to all ports regardless of what's connected (smart).. This one still has specific ports for specific devices.

Anker is in fact a US company based out of CA.... but yes the hardware is from China. There is a difference.

And that's why I will still be buying all Anker products. Since I've switched I haven't had one issue and I do see a better charge ESPECIALLY in the car from their devices. All these knock offs know the only way to sell their junk is be cheap. In this instance you do really get what you pay for. Also it's not like Ankers stuff is horribly overpriced or anything either... I just think people feel that if the device is (eventually) charged (poorly) who cares. If you really want to try and argue take a look at all the folks that buy substandard UPSes.

The Anker is better, it's also $8 (50%) more expensive.
If you're smart enough to remember which ports are 2.4A, this one works fine too.
They both have the exact same max simultaneous output.

Not a thread crap, but I wonder if these will do as well as the Anker 8A model when it comes to charging "difficult" devices. The Anker was the only after market charger I found that would charge Nook HD+ tablets and even do 3 at once. The only device I have the Anker won't charge is the HP Touchpad.

Do all these chargers already have the data pins bridged? Or do we need to use special cables?

I bought the photiv 25w charger posted here a while back. It charges my nook nd+ on the Samsung port.

Don't skimp, pay the extra $9 and get one of these for $26
Anker® 40W 5-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger with PowerIQ™ Technology
White - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IBDOB5I
Black - http://www.amazon.com/dp//B00GTGETFG

Off-the-charts power. PowerIQ technology. 5 ports. Charging re-created for our multi-device world.

PowerIQ: Charge at full speed. Every device, every time.
Not all charging ports are created equal. Standard ports only charge Apple OR Android devices at full speed. Our solution? Smart ports, powered by PowerIQ technology, intelligently identify your device and speak the language it needs for full speed charging.

Off-the-charts power.
Say goodbye to using multiple adapters & outlets. Say hello to all-in-one charging convenience. With an industry-high 40W power output among 5 ports, charge any combination of phones, tablets or other USB-charged devices at full speed (up to 8A). Even charge a trove of 5 power-hungry tablets all at once.

Compact and cable-chaos free.
About the size of a deck of playing cards (3.6 x 2.3 x 1.0in), place on your workstation, nightstand, or even the entryway desk - creating the perfect charging hub for your gear or the family's.Or, take it traveling; the unibody construction withstands bumping when stowed in your bag.

Powerful yet safe.
Using top-grade microchips and built-in fail-safes, we can ensure you receive full power and also full safety. We incorporated a unique port-level circuit protection system that shuts it down in the event of overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating or short circuits.

Actually the Anker will also charge the TouchPad, but only at the "trickle" rate. My experience is the same as yours with the Nook HD - I don't want to buy a charger without the "smart" ports ever again!
