Looks like the DEWALT DW745 10-Inch Compact Job-Site Table Saw with 20-Inch Max Rip Capacity table saw is at it's lowest price on Amazon according to camelcamelcamel at $269. It has 4.5 stars on Amazon and seems to be a nice portable table saw!

If you're the type that needs it today, they have them at Home Depot for the same price http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT.../100497987 (with the exception of tax, of course).

I believe the main difference is that the DWE7480 has a 24-1/2" rip capacity versus the 20" rip capacity of the DW745.

This one has slightly lower rip capacity than the DW7480 (20" vs 24.5"). You can't rip a full sheet in half with this one (but then who does that?)

For the growing number of us that pay tax on Amazon purchases, the Home Depot option makes more sense. You can even snag a $5 coupon to make it cheaper than Amazon. (Assuming you can find a local store with it in stock.)

actually I would argue that the 2 most important rip capacities are 24 and then 48". IE you can rip a 4x8 sheet of wood on the short or long side. Of course you wont get a 48" rip for less than a grand if not more. and itll be stationary... and itll need an outfeed table... but 24" is still a great rip capacity.

The other shortcoming of such a table saw is the inability to accept a dado blade. you have to go up to the 7490X to get that capability in a dewalt. The dado stack itself is $90, so perhaps that's not going to be an issue for most people buying a $280 saw.

Someone here mentioned last time that rip capacity can be easily increased from 20" to 24" by changing some bolts on the rip fence sliding mechanism.

It's a discontinued saw. It has been replaced by the 7480, I'm sure they'll love to take your money for it, haha.

This is a really great portable saw if you're OK with the rip capacity and lack of Dado capacity. It has been this low a time or two before from AcmeTool or HD, but regardless, it's a great model.
