Get a $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $50 or more in-store at a supermarket in CA by 7/14/2014. Redeem up to 3 times.

There is a NY/NJ/CT thread, but I believe this offer may be national albeit targeted regionally/by state. I'm in CA and I'm seeing this on my American Express online card account. Card is Blue Cash Everyday, FWIW.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Offer valid in-store in CA only. Enrollment limited. Excludes online purchases. For purposes of this offer, "Supermarket" means a store whose primary business comes from the sale of a variety of foods such as meat, fresh produce, dairy, canned and packaged goods, but also sells a variety of household products, pharmacy products and pet supplies. The following are NOT considered supermarkets: specialty food stores, small grocery stores, gourmet shops, convenience stores, drug stores, natural food stores and superstores including warehouse clubs, big box stores, and hypermarkets. Limit 3 statement credits per American Express online account. Offer is non-transferable. Statement credit(s) will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 7/14/2014, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.

Does Safeway, Costco, and TradeJoe considered to be supermarkets?
Answer: Safeway is definitely considered a supermarket. Costco definitely will not qualify. I am unsure about Trader Joe's, but my thought is that it will not qualify. -TofuVic

According to madshakes, Trader Joe's qualifies. -rsveteran

Worked in Lucky Supermarket in bay area. Purchased $50 shell GC and received the email confirmation for $10 credit

Partial list of some qualifying supermarkets, and an additional, very similar definition of supermarkets can be found here []. Thanks, slickdude1234.

I'm in CA. Got it on my SPG, not my Hilton. cards apply? Wonder if it would take two $50 swipes seconds apart?

$100 Shell card
-$20 Amex Rebates
-0.10/gal cash price
-0.40/gal Ralph's pomo

Here gas is $4.09/gal, so I can essentially get $113.92 of gas for $80, or 29.8% off.

Generally, if AmEx wants to exclude gift cards, they say so. They're quite clear about exclusions. Now, you'd want to make sure the GC you're buying still shows up as the supermarket billing your card, and not some third party entity.

I wouldn't risk two swipes in such a short period of time. I don't know the answer to your question, though.

i cannot find it in my amex gold card. I tried chatting the service rep but they had no clue- they kept on saying that they will email me with any promotions if I qualify- too bad I haven't received a single email from them involving amex offers in the past, so I have no idea what they were saying.

anyways great deal to whomever can get in on it!
