Samsung 51" PN51F5300 1080p Plasma $549 [kmart.com] @ KMart and Sears

The 51" F4500 Samsung plasma is on sale at $399, however I do not recommend this model as it is not typical 720p resolution for a 50-51" class plasma (which is 1366x768p) but rather 1024x768p. The 43" is highly recommended though, and 42-43" class 720p plasmas have always been that resolution.

Regarding the 1024x768p 51" F4500 plasma.

854x480 Plasmas had roughly 400,000 pixels Standard Definition

1024x768 Plasmas have roughly 800,000 pixels 720p 43" and smaller sets

1280x720 Plasmas had roughly 900,000 pixels Pioneer 50" plasmas from the early 2000s (then they switched to NEC glass when they acquired their plasma assets and 1366x768p)

1024x1024 Plasmas had roughly 1,000,000 pixels Hitachi 42" plasmas

1366x768 Plasmas had roughly 1,000,000 pixels Most 720p 50" and above plasmas until a couple of years ago

1080x1920 Plasmas have roughly 2,000,000 pixels

Maybe the downgrade isnt a bad as all that. I dunno Definitely going in the wrong direction. I dont think any benefits justified that move.

I'm thinking about returning mine to Sears. 1st time trying a plasma, and the glare/reflection off the screen is really bad in my living room during the day. No problem with matte LCD TV before. Obviously the picture is great at night. Argh...

glare for everything, or just dark (movie) scenes? was gonna pick one of these up for the world cup; figured the sunny soccer stadiums and green grass would be bright enough for daytime viewing.

Try angling upwards a bit toward the ceiling. The all white reflection is less distracting.

During the day, all scenes all the time show glare/reflection. I have blackout curtains to block light from directly hitting the TV from windows, but the ambient light is enough to create a reflection of every semi-shiny thing in my living room, such as pictures on the wall behind me. I would not recommend this TV for watching sports during the day.

Just so you are all aware. I ordered mine on Sunday night pretty late. It was sitting on he door of my house Tuesday at 10:00am. I'm talking better than Amazon prime delivery, so it must have actually been in stock at a local Kmart or Kmart store, so use my method as posted above and you'll get the best deal and also possibly get one delivered from a local store or a regional warehouse that happens to be nearby.

I chose the free 5-7 day shipping option.

Ohh. And the picture looks great, and it fits perfectly into my space in my existing system. I look at my 65 inch 1080 P, then look at this 43", and it looks just as good. When I put it in Dynamic mode, instead of standard, it looks even better than the 65 Panasonic with the same display adjustments made to equal that mode.

I have the 42" version of this TV, but Insignia branded. It's in a bedroom and I always am amazed when I look at the picture on it, regardless of the price. For regular tv watching, you'd never guess it was 720p.

The online sale ended back on 6/14 but I just picked this up at my local Best Buy in Sherman Oaks, CA for $299. Set it up last night and has excellent picture quality. If you are looking for something decent for a bedroom or small family room this is a solid choice over more expensive Samsung LEDs.

Found one at my local Best Buy in Sherman Oaks, CA for $299. Looks like they had a few more that they wanted to get rid of.
