I bought a Geek Squad Certified iPad Mini Retina 16GB in-store earlier this year for $280. Condition was like-new, and the Apple warranty status showed up as just under 1 year.
If the iPad had been previously registered, I think the warranty date would start from that point. Don't know if you would be able to update the warranty period by producing an open-box receipt from Best Buy.
I've been in touch with the Best Buy Twitter team and they were able to apply a retroactive credit to my account when they found out I had already placed the order but misplaced my coupon. They gave me a new code to replace the lost one, but since they applied a credit, I suspect the code is still valid, so here you go, whoever can use it: 15a6a0dbd. Contrary to the conditions that state that in-store coupons won't work on open-box items, I tried it and it applied.
