Editor's Notes & Price Research
Upon purchase, you're are automatically enrolled in 30 day trial of FreedomPop Premier ($24.99 authorization charge will drop off in a bit). You can disable that by going to My Account (your password should be in your email) -> Services -> Premier service and go all the way to the bottom right corner to deactivate it. Carefully read & click subsequent confirmations to avoid retaining data (extra cost). Then, go to My Account > Billing > Billing Settings > Auto Top-up > Edit > Off to disable auto top up.
Also, Turn off "3rd party email contacts" under My Account->Update Account Settings and then scroll down to the bottom where it has e-mail preferences.

Just want to let you know that we are working to ship the hotspots as fast as we can. We didn't expect such a large response from the SD Community, which is why there has been the shipping delay. Our Logistics Team is working very hard to get all orders shipped accordingly.
We really appreciate your patience as we work to get them shipped. If you have any questions/issues, feel free to send me a PM."
You will be emailed a shipping confirmation w/ tracking info when the hotspot is sent out.
CAREFUL - YMMV depending on AREA - I was nearly billed $40 for a refurbished device. Please do NOT remove this warning.
To see if you qualify for UNLIMITED service for $10 a month, see here -> http://slickdeals.net/f/7000294-10-mo-unlimited-clear-internet-service-limited-to-specific-zip-codes?
How to avoid extra charges/Cancel Premier:
Log in your FP acct: My Account > Services > Under "My Services" Click on Link for Premier
On details page, which lists the features of the Premier service, look for the Deactivate/Cancel link (lower right corner, tiny text)
"To deactivate the FreedomPop Premier service, click here" Pay attention to what they ask, like clicking on "cancel" means you are cancelling the cancelling purpose.
Ignore bright colors, just READ and cancel.
Cancel Auto Top-Up
My Account > Billing > Billing Settings > Auto Top-up > Edit > Off
Do your research before you jump on this because Freedompop has horrible customer service!
Bigger fonts not necessarily provide better credibility. For free, I will take that any day. Based on my 1 year experience with Freedompop, they are quite responsive. I've got 2 battery replacement for free so far.
There is going to be a pending charge of $24.99 immediately on your card.
It will be removed without actually being charged to your account.
They do it make sure you have the funds for them to take for Premier Service next billing cycle, if you neglect to cancel before then.
Nothing to worry, but something to remember to do (cancel)
Is there a non usage, or inactivity fee of $0.99?
A thing of the past.
Not true--I am still being charged by FreedomPop on my 2 existing accounts when I do not use it.
True--just email their customer service if you still see it on your account, they will remove it and credit you back.
Is there a authorization charge?
A temporary authorization charge may be applied to your credit card upon signing up. This authorization is cancelled immediately.
I already have a FreedomPop device; how do I get a refund to get this deal?
To be honest, this may not be in your best interest. We only accept returns for the first 30 days after purchase and we do not provide return shipping. If you still want to try to return your current device and possibly pay more to get this, then go ahead and message us.
I already have a FreedomPop device; how do I add this to my existing account?
At this time, we’re not able to have multiple devices under one account. Each device must be under a unique email address, but this works out really great because you can connect the accounts through Freedom Friends to receive even more free data each month.
How do I get even more free data every month?
Add some Friends from this thread- http://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends
Does my earned free data rollover?
Earned free data from partner offers does not rollover. However, any data earned from connecting with Freedom Friends will renew with each billing cycle.
Is this 4G LTE? Is this 3G?
This promotion is for a 4G WiMAX capable hotspot only. It is not compatible with LTE or 3G. To check on coverage, visit www.freedompop.com/coverage
When will devices be shipped?
The first 2000 devices are ready to be shipped. All orders after will take about a week to ship.
Is this device refurbished?
This is a refurbished device, but unlike our other devices, they have been repackaged and inspected by our logistics department and not a third party manufacturer.
How do I downgrade my trial of Premier?
We’ve recently added the ability to downgrade Premier trials through your FreedomPop account page
Have a Billing Issue?
We encourage all our users to come to us first to see if we can explain any charge or resolve any billing issue before further escalation.
Email is probably the best way to reach us (email@example.com) or just private message us. If you absolutely must speak to us, you can call (888) 743-8107 (M-F 9am-5pm PDT).
Keep in mind that Wimax is going away soon. Then this will just be a paperweight. <-- But before it becomes a paperweight, it will be a free hotspot, plus free data for another 18 months.
18 months? Wimax will cease "before the end of 2015", it doesn't say "December 2015". Sprint won't be shutting it down on 6000 towers all at one moment. They will be doing it in stages, which means *your* tower could shut down in 2 months.
From the FAQ (500MB really means 400MB):
I still have 100MB of data left for the month, why is my account suspended? Due to the three hour delay for reporting data usage, we need to trigger the auto top-up functionality 100mb before your data limit. This is done to protect you from going over the 500mb limit. If you have the top-up service enabled, you will be charged $10 and this credit will stay on your FreedomPop account to cover any pay-as-you-go fees. If you have the top-up disabled, our system will suspend your account once it recognizes that you have hit the 100mb threshhold.
This means that those of us using the free service and turning off auto top-off (all of us?) will really only be getting 400MB per month.
