Q&A on Wal-Mart.com indicated a regular box spring is fine.

I bought the Spa Sensations 8" Memory Foam Mattress,Size: Queen almost a year ago for $199 and it's been awesome. I have it on top of a wooden platform bed frame and it feels great. Not sure if the "gel" on this current deal makes it a whole lot different or not though.

I bought a "Gel" memory foam from Costco a while back and it is AWFUL!! We had to turn it over to sleep on the non-gel side which is actually better! I think the gel is a gimmick. However, I am 55 and not as flexible in the back and joints as I once was so, if you are younger and don't have back or joint wear and tear yet, then you should be OK. If you have any back issues I would pass.
When we get a new mattress our "gel" is going in the guest room.

Used this forum in helping find my mattress this time around. Has a lot of good information. Be sure to pay attention to the density of the foam as well as the comfort layer.

The gel layer is supposed to decrease the heat trapping weakness that a lot of memory foams have btw.

I have the Spa Sensations 12" Theratouch Memory Foam Mattress [walmart.com] without the gel and it honestly is a great mattress. I bought one for the guest bedroom as well and everyone loves it. These mattresses are far better then some of the ones I have bought for 2K in the past

I have them sitting on these frames [walmart.com]

I bought the same "Spa Sensations" (same product code) in November 2011... It says Gel in title but no gel for sure unless they recently added one in the same version later... This is the good start up mattress to start with Memory foam type... 8" comes firm... by using it becomes little softer... I am 140 pounds and my wife weights 150 pounds ... We still use it.... perfectly no issues...

We bought last week from Nature's sleep... Gel memory foam high range Visco gel mattress... let see how does it go in next 3 months....

density on these cheap mattress is kinda low. I think you want 4.5lbs+ if you want it to last. I've been looking at amerisleep lately though they're a little pricy.

I have the regular Spa Sensation 6" and it can get a little hot sometimes, so if this new Gel version is really cooler then it is perfect!
