This is a wifi connected switch that can be controlled by Android devices through an app.

Little information about this device is readily available, but it appears to draw about 1.5 watts when idle due to the constant wireless network connectivity.

This forum post [cocoontech.com] points out a security flaw in the Wimo. It seems silly to connect something simple like a light switch to the internet, when a basic RF switch provides most of the same functionality with less power consumption and no security issues.

This matches the Frys price from a few weeks ago at $30 each. I still have more to install but $30 each seems to be the best price for these switches.

Good catch wazlo21... I read that earlier as $60.98 from newegg. So with that being said Frys deal was better and you could purchase an odd # of them.

Lucky if you got the deals last time. I don't see anyone ever promoted at $29.99 at all Frown

I'm no math major, but I'm pretty $69.98 for 2 isn't $30 each.

For those of you with a Sam's Club nearby, stop by to see if they have any 2-packs in stock. I picked up a few for $51. They are clearing them out so very few Clubs actually have any remaining. Might be worth a short drive to check it out. Item number is 257378.

I feel that all these WeMo deals are a precursor to iOS8 Homekit compatible sets.

$35 for a light switch? Ouch. I wouldn't pay that much for a light switch if it let me think it on and off with my mind.

I have to agree. I think this stuff will be obsolete in 5 years anyway, when gesture control of the light itself becomes more standard. No more need for these switches on the wall separate from the light itself. I'm saving my money. These new switches only offer negligibly higher functionality for a huge premium.
