I have to agree. I think this stuff wiLL be obsolete in 5 years anyway, when gesture control of the light itself becomes more standard. No more need for these switches on the wall separate from the light itself. I'm saving my money. These new switches only offer negligibly higher functionality for a huge premium.
Dude wtf. This has an i9, has HDMI, 1.4R, and Usb 4.0. You will be obsolete before this.

really? you must not buy a lot of stuff then
Buying stuff is something I try to avoid as much as possible. Stuff costs money and occupies space.

Never mind the fact that you are on a website that is all about buying stuff.

Pickup up a set. Will use it in conjunction with my D-link camera's. Now I can turn on the lights and see if everything is ok at my house when away from home. My cameras have infrared but would rather be able to see with the lights on. I've been contemplating on getting this item at Home Depot. This saved me $30 ....HD is listing them at $49.99 for 1.

Can anyone tell me if you can operate the switch manually by touching the switch? I know the Belkin WeMo switches have an on/off button to manually operate them but not sure about the light switches. Just wondering incase someone wanted to turn a light on/off without using the WiFi feature.

TIA

He's looking at all the things he could buy, if he had the space.

I dunno, I don't buy much stuff, but I'm on SD all the time...I live with my parents (the slickest deal ever), so I don't have much space of my own, but one day I hope to be able to afford a place and fill with alll the crap I buy from surfing SD.

I look at Slickdeals to spend as little as possible on the stuff I do buy, not to buy stuff for the sake of buying more stuff.

Yes, you can turn it on manually by hand by softly touching where the power button is. Make sure that you have a neutral wire which is required.

I don't think Slickdeals should be in the business of promoting home electrical items.

Judging by how many people ask if they can use a Virgin Mobile phone on AT&T, there's no way these are going to be installed safely. If most posters can't even be bothered to read a damn description, what makes you think they wont burn down their houses?

I'm an apprentice electrician and the things I see homeowners mess up is sometimes completely absurd (and incredibly unsafe).

I would say most people here are pretty experienced at hooking stuff up. With all the cell phones, tablets, TVs, networking equipment, and computers people buy here they've learned to deal with all sorts of electrical connections. I imagine most people here have connected USB, Ethernet, Firewire, HDMI, VGA, PS/2, coaxial, and many other types of cables.

An HDMI connection is pretty complex electrically and uses 19 conductors. This switch seems to use a simple 3-wire interface. Heck, the wires are even color coded. Anyone who can't figure that out, probably can't set up a WiFi network for this to use anyway.

Careful, you don't want to give anyone any ideas. Before you know it, the IBEW will be lobbying for laws that only allow licensed electricians to purchase light switches.

Never ever, ever, overestimate the IQ level on slickdeals. These idiots average around 90 or less. Some even goes down below room temperature. I wish I have the time to sit here and list out the names of every single idiot that posts dumb stuff on this web site but that would take up my entire day if not more.
