Quickbooks v Quicken v other finance/business management software
Any recommendations? Looking for something to help manage transactions, budget, EOY taxes, profits, costs, etc for a small business. I missed the last SD from Newegg for QB, but there seems to be a bunch on ebay that's a lot cheaper than retail, but require student or teaching proof. Any experience with that? Thanks!
We just asked this to a very good accountant in the Bay Area, and she told us to get Quickbooks, either Pro or Premier. I got Premier at Staples yesterday. They PM Amazon, and then I used the 20% off coupon. http://www.staples.com/coupons
One of the things to keep in mind is Quickbooks has a lot of compatibility with other software. Say for example you have a lot of Amazon and eBay/Paypal sales, there are already modules built that can take the transactions out of Paypal and automatically create the invoices in QB for them so you don't have to manually enter each sale. That saves you a lot of time.
Quickbooks sucks at inventory management however. I learned that the hard way... what I've come to learn is that QB = accounting software so it's really only good for accounting (even tho they sell an upgrade for an inventory module).
There are third-party vendors (for example Fishbowl) that build better inventory management software that plugs into QB.
