dont know if this is much diff from NX300, but NX300, I def liked it a LOT and i would definitely put its IQ up there with NEX cameras. That's just generally speaking though, when it comes to budget friendly awesome quality lens, the NX wins hands down, and it is just SOOOO much more pleasant to use with an interface and controls that actually is made to be efficient and user friendly.
Where the NX ecosystem outshines the formerly named NEX series are the great lenses that are relatively inexpensive for the quality. You can generally buy the 30mm f2.0 lens for around $200 when it goes on sale... Tack sharp and a great deal even for full price... think Nikon 35mm f1.8, and you would be close. That said, Sony sensors are quite good and while NEX's native lenses are either not great optically or great+expensive, you can generally get an adapter for almost any lenses out there and can manually focus with their focus peaking system. Either system has its pro's and con's, but generally can't go wrong with either if you 'just want to take some good pictures.'
