I know people hate TWC but that's the only service available where I live . While shopping for internet connection , I noticed that they are currently offering free Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1 tablet/ PC with the 50mbps ultimate internet plan ( $ 64.99 per month) . I believe there is no contract either . Here is the link to twc

and I guess this is the tablet/pc/laptop

Did you already sign up for this? They are probably going to argue it's not valid for existing internet customers.

TWC is the devil, Insight was bad enough but damn TWC....., Comcast isn't in full effect here but I hear our rates already went up. I'm on my last month of a stupid cheap price locked salesmans bundle. Probably dropping TV altogether and then going to Direct TV for football season.

Not a bad deal at all, I unfortunately only have TWC as an option too and was looking at upping the speed because currently the 15mb isn't cutting it. 20 bucks more a month to get an extra PC to give to the kids is pretty sweet.

Sounds like a good deal if you were looking for fast internet anyways. You can always get a lower price than quoted, you're not locked into a contract, and you only have to wait 3 - 4 months for the laptop to be sent before you move to a cheaper plan or switch away to another provider.

Unfortunately, I am already on TWC even though not on the Ultimate package. Would be nice to flip it to recover some cost.

Are you in the Louisville area? A couple of months after the change (we'd missed the cable box rental bit after all ours was years old) I contacted them, and since our email was being changed I stated I may as well get rid of TWC if I'm already changing my emails. Got the new customer rate, which was $35 for the lowest speeds (not impressive but it does what we need). I had a FAR DOCSIS 1.1 modem I'd gotten as backup, and TWC simply refused to have anything to do with it.

I double checked the more recent DOCSIS specs (when I gotten mine it was compatible with DOCSIS 2.0 and upon checking there was absolutely no reason any certified DOCSIS 1.1 or higher modem would not work. BTW the certification is through a cover organization associated with the CABLE COMPANIES. I had the number for the local Insight techs from a previous issue (lightning strike nearby) and they had it working in 5 minutes. If you really want a funny take on TWC/Comcast/et al and the whole net neutrality bit, try this (warning, he uses some words banned for regular broadcast): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp...feature=kp

Canceling TWC soon anyhow. They're already awful, no tablet makes it worthwhile. But fwiw - they do not usually send the rewards that they promise. It somehow gets lost in their system.

There was a similar deal last year, around November-December. Very few existing customers actually got the tablet, even though it showed in their cart upon checkout. Additionally, when I got my first bill it was nearly $90, not $65. I called and fought for the promo price, which I got for a year, but was not successful on the tablet.

Just an FYI for any existing customers that are interested.
