Editor's Notes & Price Research

It is best to purchase two $100 eGift Cards (in two orders) to avoid the shipping cost. Slickdealer MIAMIGUY305 also mentioned using promotion code DGPCM to waive the purchase charge fee. Please refer to forum thread for additional information.

Terms and Conditions
Offer valid online only. Offer only applies to online Gift Card or Business Gift Card order completed at https://www.americanexpress.com/gift-cards and excludes logo & gift cheque purchases. Merchant does not deliver/ship to HI or VT. If you order an item during the offer period but it is not sent to you until after 7/30/14, it may not count towards determining whether your purchase qualifies for the offer. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. POID:
________
This was on my Amex BCP this morning. $10 is $10, although some of it will be used towards covering the fee. Physical gift cards have a fee of $3.95 per card.

Best option - $200 e-gift card + $3.95 fee - $10 statement credit = $193.95 (3% off)

EDIT: New Best option - $200 e-gift card + $0.00 fee (Coupon code: DGPCM - thanks MIAMIGUY305) - $10 statement credit = $190.00 (5% off)
Note: If your credit card offers 1% back on all purchased, you could get the $200 gift card for $188 after cash back.

If you take advantage of an offer on our site, Slickdeals may receive a commission.

In before everyone starts saying, "wait, I always save at least 5-10% buying Amazon GC's", but never tell us how.

Yea, you're right, there are ways to get up to 6% cash back on gift cards (like with Amex BCP). However, for those who do not have those cards, this is additional free money that is not tied to a company like Amazon.

eh, to save just 7 bucks.. have to lay out 200 for a e-gift card, which is more limiting in where I can use it. .. seems like more of a pain then its worth for 7 bucks.. I think my time is worth more. maybe if you were already doing a high value purchase on amazon or something I guess.

You still need to pay the activation fee so it is not technically 5%. Actually if you buy a $200 GC the 5% gives you $10, but the activation fee is $6.95.

You can combine this with the Staples rebate offers which is what I always do, but that does not exclude doing this deal on top of that.

Thanks OP!

You can not buy an egift card for more than $100 value. This makes you ineligible for the $10 amex cashback

5% at staple is shit because I don't shop enough at staple. 5% cash back from credit card or gift cards from visa/amex/etc are actually useful because you can use them anywhere, unlike the staple 5%.

So 5% at staple in my value worth is less than 1%. So not much of a deal for me. Combine with activation fee, it's a no deal for the staple 5%.
