If you sign up for more than one of these and 'reactivate' with the other key at the end of the 270 days, it may extend it.

I paid for some 99c keys way back and the keys were stackable immediately at the time.

I'm wondering, does it mean you only have that many days/hours left to activate it before the code no longer work? I assume this is what they do otherwise someone could rack up a bunch of them.

It depends on many factor, some antivirus have better detection, but might be less use friendly, or too restrictive, or have more false positive. Generally you have to search for the one with the best balance for your case. Bitdefender and Kaspersky are generally regard as among of the best. http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is a good place to find out how they stack up against each other.

I already have a subscription. It wouldn't let me add it to it. It created a new license that has only 9 months left.

If this works the same way the last couple free versions work then the days/hours is as long as you have to sign up your e-mail for. After that you have 30 days to activate Bitdefender from the code they e-mailed you. Bitdefender will also send you another e-mail to remind you a couple days before the 30 days are up to activate.
