Thanks op, just wish newegg would switch to the amex reward cards like TD. These visa cards cannot be directly cashed in or direct deposited.
+ I already did the eco backpack / total defense $10 MM (crying @ the $3 loss) give me some time to mourn. Crying2
But actually that backpack was excellent, used it for a 5 hr hike up mountain @ upstate NY.

I wish TD would switch to Visa haha, the $1.00 hold that Amex does makes it so I can't clear them out via amazon payments for an additional week (sometimes longer). With Visa you can just do the whole amount, no hold. heart

When adding your card to Amazon Payments put in the WRONG expiration date. Then immediately fix it after saving it to your account. Then there won't be a $1 hold.

isn't having the full balance of the amex reward card directly deposited into your checking/savings account better than amazon payments?

Probably better, yes, but I already have a system in place with a friend on Amazon Payments and too lazy to change things laugh out loud

does amazon payments charge a fee to deposit a visa GC and then withdraw it to your bank? or is that not even possible?
I'm not too sure how amz payments works, is it only for buying stuff on amazon?

You really need two AP accounts to effectively use it, if possible get a friend or family member to sign up for an AP account. You can receive up to $1,000 a month via credit/debit cards and there are no fees. Account A sends $1k from debit/credit to Account B, Account B sends back a $1k (either from their AP account balance or they can transfer their balance to their own bank account and send $1k from credit card sources of their own). Rinse, repeat.

Amazon Payments can be used to buy stuff on Amazon but you can transfer it just as easily to your checking (again, I think Checking only).

scenario;

Wife & I each set up an AP account.
I get tons of visa / MC / Amex rebate gift cards from FAR/MM items.
I can deposit them into my AP account & send them to the wife (up to $1k (monthly?))
She receives the transferred money and just gives it to me.

how did i do?
