I just realized I'm getting seduced by this points back crap. I casually added 3 bags to my cart because it has a decent points back vs points spent ratio. I have the equivalent of $161+ in points that will expire next month so I've been looking for things to buy (I've already bought 4 TVs). Now, if I were dealing strictly in cash, there is no way I'd buy this bag for $45 let alone 3 of them. And, I don't even need a camera bag but if I did, I'd buy the same bag on Amazon for $20.
What I should be doing is some early Christmas shopping or buying something I can flip on Craigslist. I should also just consider getting a CSR to extend the expiration date on my points but I keep seeing some decent high point deals these days.
A note to anyone looking for Sears to work with them in price matching or discounting is to BE PERSISTENT.
If the first CSR won't give you what you want, try again.
If the first CSR isn't nice, try again.
Ask what their name is and use it... this works well and the conversation becomes chatty & very friendly.
Be very polite & empathtic... you understand they have a tough job in dealing with the public blah, blah, blah.....
You might apologize for taking up so much of their time etc, etc....
I've gotten them to work with me both on the phone and by chat. If you're chatting with them you can also be doing something else at the same time. On one occasion I asked for help with a coupon that was just for $5. The CSR couldn't get it to work either so she ended up giving me a % discount which was for a lot more money. I've also gotten them to give me more points and to discount the item I'm interested in buying. Sometimes a CSR will give me more than what I was hoping for so it's wise to listen first and then plead your case.
Enjoy and good luck!
