As many know by now, Best Buy will also (technically!) take a Mover's coupon that you can get from the Post Office and will get another 10% off (after the $100 edu coupon is applied). So price before tax becomes $674.99.

I was wondering how come no one mentions that you can get another 10% back in rewards (almost immediately pretty much) if you use the BB credit card. Triple dip! Unless they don't let you do that?

Tips so far:
  • Movers and .edu do not work together online. Only one code accepted there.
  • Movers can be purchased online [usps.com], it takes two minutes. Go through a change of address, pay the $1.05 verification fee, print/email the coupons you're interested and close it. Edit: Sometimes it's a hit and miss and you get no coupons.
  • You can also get the mover's coupon from your local Post Office. Ask for the mover's package (for change of address), and make sure you get the blue envelope.
  • They both work fine in store (technically), so try pushing it. It's true the edu coupon fineprint says only one coupon accepted, but they stack just fine at the register.
  • Edu must be scanned first, then movers. They apply in this order, and it minimizes your chances of getting the second coupon rejected (since there are no real restrictions on the mover's)
  • Electronic versions work fine. I had my clerk scan the barcodes off my phone, no questions asked. Did that with both online mover's and scan of physical code (mover's package)
  • If you purchased within the last 15 days, you can PM additional coupons. Bring the receipt to the store (you don't need the product). If the purchase was made online you don't need the receipt/invoice, they will pull it from the system based on your phone number. If you're lucky they won't do a refund/repurchase (addt'l charge), just a direct refund to your card (worked for me).
  • The Best Buy list of coupon includes both online codes and barcode coupons. They are different and unique, i.e. you can use the same EDU coupon for two separate orders (one online, one in store). Once you use any of the codes, they are voided and can not be used again for a separate order or repurchase. Same applies to mover's.

Also, just to settle this once and for ever:
  • Californiacolleges edu addresses don't receive BB emails, so stop trying to use it for edu coupons. You're wasting your time waiting, it won't work.

dropped the mover's and .edu coupons on the 256GB model that was on sale this week for $1,049 ($150 off) and got it for $855 tax free in Delaware. looks like the 256GB model went back up in price. no way i could go with the 128GB model with only about 100GB of actual usable space, even if i added in a 64 or 128GB SD card. 256GB is as low as i can go and even that is a bit low for me but i'll throw in a 128GB card for extra space

once you go SSD, it's unbearable to go back

yeah it was my understanding that Best Buy's margin on actual Macs and iPads was very low (below 5%) and that most of the margin is made on accessories and extended warranties. who knows what goes on behind the scenes though, apple could be offloading these to best buy at a discounted rate
