Here's a link to [myfixguide.com] a disassembling of this notebook. Looks like the RAM, HDD and wireless card can be upgraded. The battery can possibly be swapped out for a higher capacity one from a higher end model.

Is that chip even usable for web browsing/streaming video?

Now this is interesting. Between this deal and the $250 HP Pentium system at Staples, I'm not sure which to go with?

Bought this last week when it was at $200, got Best Buy to price match to the lower price. Decent for the price, it does what I bought it for (basic note taking and web browsing). I installed windows 7 on it with a little bit of effort and it works well. Only limitation seems to be the ram, since 1 out of the 2 gb is taken by my basic processes and antivirus.

How is it with video streaming? Does it get pretty hot during use?

I ran amazon video for a bit and it seems fine as long as I'm not trying to do anything else at the time. It gets a bit warm under where the battery is located.

Ah okay. I like that it's a fanless design, but am worried how long it'd last if I streamed videos on it most of the time (Youtube, Amazon, Netflix, HBO GO)

This computer is not bad for web surfing and watching some videos. If your going to do some thing serious like convert videos and such then this is the wrong computer for that. Its a slow CPU chip.

No. Even DOS will choke on it.

Bought at BB for $200, returned a couple of days later. I found it to be very for web surfing and Office. Opted for the $237 Dell from Frys (same chip but more ram and a bigger hard drive.) Hasn't arrived yet.

Considering that it supports Quicksync, it will be fast for video conversion applications.
