Fantastic time to try Cricketwireless, I think. They are an AT&T MVNO so the coverage is pretty good.

There is no limit on the number of lines a customer can switch to Cricket, receiving a $100 bill credit for each line transferred.

The new Cricket Wireless experience offers customers:

More 4G LTE coverage than T-Mobile and Metro PCS, period
Taxes and fees included - no surprises, the price you see is the price you pay
A free smartphone every year with Cricket Rewards**
Plans starting at $35 a month after $5 credit for using auto pay ***

With Cricket's simple affordable pricing plans, a $100 bill credit equals more than two months of free service with the Basic Plan at $35 (after a $5 credit for using auto pay) and the Smart Plan at $45 (after a $5 auto pay credit). Customers who sign up with the Pro Plan at $55 (after $5 auto pay credit) get the equivalent of nearly two months of service free.

"T-Mobile and Metro PCS customers looking to switch will find the new Cricket a smart choice," said Cricket vice president and chief marketing officer Janna Ducich. "We give consumers straightforward, affordable pricing, offer nationwide 4G LTE coverage, and reward their loyalty. And for the next few weeks, we'll give them a $100 bill credit to see it for themselves."

absolutely no referral soliciting please.

This is an AT&T subsidiary. Document EVERYTHING or you will get screwed out of $100 credit(s).

- MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you byod, be prepared to go through this process if you want to get data working on your phone:

Use the below cricket apn settings for configuring internet or data connection and MMS apn settings for sending MMS on your android, iPhone, iOS, blackberry or other unlocked phones.

How to edit the Cricket APN for Android ?
Tap Settings > Mobile Networks (or Mobile Data) > Access Point Names > New APN (may have to tap Menu button to see this option).

Enter the following APN info:
Name: Internet
APN: ndo
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mmsc.aiowireless.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 150
Authentication type: Not Set
APN type: default,mms,fota,hipri,supl

Tap Save for the new APN.
Go back one screen to the APN list and tap the dot to enable this APN.
Reboot the device.
Test data and MMS.

The actual plans/speeds since they raised the data allotments are:

$25/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. No Data (not included in this promo)
$40/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 1 GB of data
$50/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 3 GB of data
$60/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 10 GB of data

Then, on top of that you will receive a $5 monthly credit if you autopay from a credit/debit card (does not apply to the $25 plan).

Cricket has 4 pricing tiers:

$25/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. No Data
$40/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 500 MB data
$50/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 2.5 GB data
$60/mo: unlimited Talk and Text. 5 GB data

+ you get $5/mo off for signing up for Autopay. You will be credited the $5 5 days before your billing cycle ends. You must be enrolled in Autopay to for the whole billing cycle to keep the credit. I take this to mean if you cancel your service, you lose your credit (as in you pay the full $40 or whatever the first month and they credit you. This means you can apply the credit starting the second month. When you cancel the service, you have a $5 dollar credit that will disappear as it cannot be cashed out).

Cricket offers LTE speeds of up to 8 Mbps and HSPA+ speeds of up to 4 Mbps. Once you go over your data allotment, you are throttled to 128 Kbps.

Does it work with Ultra Mobile (TMobile MVNO), the fact they called only MetroPCS specifically, I guess not, can someone answer please ?

Does it work with prepaid plan, like $30 TMobile plan. Thinking on the scammy side, what if you picked up a preloaded first month TMobile sim from Ebay, activated and then ported to Cricket? Is there a minimum account age requirement. I never tried the preloaded sim on TMobile, just Blackwireless.

Wow, the feature to show plan options doesn't even work, it returns nothing when I enter my zip. Tried both FF and IE9.

I wonder if they can really tell if the number is being ported from T-Mobile/MetroPCS or if they require any proof (like your last bill). Otherwise you could just port a Google Voice number and score 2 months of 2.5GB of data for free. That's also assuming they send you a free SIM.

Does it work with T-Mobile pre-paid plans? If it does, it would be possible for people to port their number from their current provider to T-Mobile prepaid ( get cheap or free Sim) then port to cricket. Or if you are starting a new service, just get a T-Mobile prepaid service first and port it to cricket.

Just so others know, the $25/mo plan ("Talk and Text") is not eligible for this promotion...

No, but it should work if you switch to Metro or T-Mobile for a month (assuming that T-Mo service is sufficient where you live) and then port to Cricket for the $100 credit since this promo is supposed to remain active through October.

I am on Straight Talk as well. But I do have a T-Mobile Sim and it is not active anymore. Is it possible I could just give the T-mobile number and sign up for the credit?
