eBay Daily Deal is having a one day sale on Canon EOS M with 22mm lens for $249. It is a grey market item with warranty from BigValueInc. They are a pretty big company on eBay.

I love my 22mm even with the slow autofocus. Takes beautiful pictures. I know some on here don't like the camera.

Anyone have recommendations on this kit vs the lumix Lx7? Not an avid photographer by any stretch. I just want something to take nice high quality photos of the family and something the can generate good pics and prints for photo books and frames. The Lx 7 is very highly rated and is less fuss with a built in flash and fixed lenses.

Speaking for sensor alone, the image quality on the EOS-M will be much superior owing to it's larger size, as will the low light performance.

Very pleased with my EOS-M. My 6d recently broke due to water damage and I've had to go back to my 60d (shooting with 1.4L lens). It's been harder to carry now that I have kids and between my EOS-M (shooting with 18-55mm kit) and 60d, I've been using the EOS-M more. For some of the photos, I could not believe the quality (after Lightroom adjustments) and its hard to distinguish the difference for day to day photos.

Also, there have been new lenses released recently, so I don't think EOS-M is going away.

I think I'll buy another one as backup. Better a cheap $140 body break (22mm can be had for 100-110) than my the $1.9K 6d that I took kayaking Frown.

Yep, I was *this* close to picking one up, but I don't think I need any more cameras! At $250 it's a no brainer if you don't already have a nice camera.

Launch was apparently July 2012, so it's a little over 2 years old model according to http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canon-eos-m

lowest price on slickdeals yet right? do i need an adapter to mount my father's 28-70mm canon L lens to this? he also has the speedlite 550 which i see him use on the 5dm2...not sure if that would work on this camera.

yes, you would need an adapter to put EF lens.

Do you find it hard to focus on kids when they are moving? I mainly want this to take family pictures and vacation shots.

I believe this is the lowest the 22mm kit has been.

The speedlite will work, but there may be some functions that aren't supported since it's a few years old. I've tried a 430II/580II/600RT on mine, no issues (aside from the way it looks with a flash that size on top of such a small camera).

Yes, you'll need the adapter to use EF lenses.

lol...yeah, i was thinking about the size relative to the camera...i have the 550ez right next to me and it would look a bit odd, but i heard the 90EX isn't effective...just trying to save as much $ as i can with his existing canon gear.
