Not necessarily. Manufacturers tend to have a very broad definition of 720p.

Meh, hold out 3 more months and get yourself a Black Friday 50inch backlit LED for $300.

I'm rocking my 50 inch Toshiba with my $230 Onkyo 7.1 surround system from a year and half ago. The latter having no bearing on the topic really.

However, if you're looking for sound systems to pair with the TV keep an eye on Amazon in November and January. December is more hit and miss, but those three months see mean deals on sound systems too.

cheap led's have no where near the color quality of plasma

no truer statement.

In fact many mid-level LCD's (which is what all those screens are, they just have a LED backlight
can't touch a low end plasma for straight video consumption

excellent deal for the picture quality

I have owned both the 42 and 50 720 LG's and the pic after tweaking (see AVS) was simply pleasing easy to watch with very good colors and detail considering they do suffer from less that stellar black levels.

I have a 60 1080 LG in the family room as well as 65" and 50" Pans in the LR and BR respectively, and am fairly critical pic quality guy.

They are no Pan but for the $/PQ cannot be beat.

I just can't believe how marketing (it's about money and margins sheeple), have dumbed down the viewing public to think that overly bright unnatural cartoonish presentation is quality in any way...
but it's the world we live in, dumdazzes think that life on video should look like their cell phone screen...
