For those who were worried about the integration of hangouts and GV.

For the last few years, it has always felt like Google Voice, the company's VoIP calling solution, was on its way out. Instead, the video-centric Hangouts was getting all of the attention. But fret not, Google tells me that it is "growing its investment in Google Voice" and starting today, it will integrate Voice and Hangouts with the launch of its redesigned Hangouts apps for Android and iOS, as well as on the web. This new version of Hangouts is rolling out to all users over the next few days and the Google Voice features will be available shortly after.

FAQ for making call from Android
https://support.google.com/hangou...ic=2944851

You won't be able to use the Hangouts app as the default dialer for outgoing calls. If you want to use a Wi-Fi or data connection to make calls all the time, you can set that up in the Google Voice app on your Android app.

Calls from your Hangouts app won't use your mobile phone carrier's voice minutes, but they will use your data plan if you don't use WiFi for your calls.

FAQ to Receive calls in Android
https://support.google.com/hangou...ic=2944851
You can receive calls through Hangouts on Android devices if you have a Google Voice number. You need to download the Hangouts dialer to turn on voice calling in the Hangouts app. Then you can receive calls through a Wi-Fi or data connection (like 4G).

Thank you. Looks like it is 1.5 cents cheaper.
I may get my mother to give it a try.

I don't use International calling at all, but this is encouraging. I use Google Voice as my primary mobile number however and was concerned for the overall status of it, as it appears to be the red headed step child of their product line. Now if they could just complete their integration with the mobile Hangouts app and find some way to support sending and receiving MMS on carriers other than TMobile and Sprint I'd be thrilled.
