Activation is free online. You can also buy in local cricket store and ask them to waive activation.

They will provide unlock code in 3-4 months. Alternatively it can be unlocked from 3rd party unlocking services

You can get additional $25 if you are referred by an existing cricket customer. Both you and referrer get $25 each.

Additionally if you port a number from Tmobile or metroPCS you will get an additional $100 [cricketwireless.com]

Cricket is an AT&T subsidiary and you get full AT&T coverage including LTE coverage. HSPA is capped at 4 mbps and LTE at 8 mbps


Currrent Plans
[cricketwireless.com] are

$40 for unlimited talk / text and 1GB data
$50 for unlimited talk / text and 3GB data
$60 for unlimited talk / text and 10GB data

You get a $5 discount per month if you set up auto pay making the above plans $35, $45 and $55 respectively

Alternatively you can choose group pay for multiple lines on the same account and get a $10 discount for the second line, $20 discount for the 3rd line and $30 discount for the 4th line and $40 discount for the 5th line. 5th line discount goes down to $30 after Mar 1 2016

Do note that the rebate is just a promotion card that is used to pay for Cricket service.
The rebate should come as $50 Prepaid Visa Card and can be used for whatever. That's how my came, and it looks like the details for this rebate are the same. The rebate form can be found here

that July promotion expired and for a while there was no promotion. They recently reinstated the promotion and this one now expires on Sep 25

Cricket has been doing that $50 mail in rebate thing on this phone since it released on their network. I don't think there was a time where it wasn't FAR...

It looks like it requires a plan. Do you get the phone, send in the rebate, and then cancel the service? or do you need to pay for at least a month?
