Just wondering, is this even necessary? I thought I watched some videos of the iPhone 6's scratch test and it seemed nearly impossible to scratch it.

My opinion: It's not necessary, but it doesn't hurt. Especially when it comes to a product that costs $649+ retail (unlocked price). In the end, it'll definitely at least increase the resale value of your iphone 6 later on down the road if you want to resell it on ebay and upgrade to the next model.

Great, thanks! 0.18mm thick, this might be good enough to use WITH TouchID. I had a 0.3mm thick one on my iPhone 5 and i had to install the provided rubber button in order to comfortably use the home button.

These look cool but bet they don't work if you plan on using a case too, in fact I know they won't fit right with a case as a buddy bought one for his daughter's 5C and it fits but not well, said the case tries to push the edges of the protector up because it's too tight. If you don't plan on using a case or one that doesn't wrap all the way around to the front it should be good.
