Editor's Notes & Price Research
Click here for the official Microsoft blog post regarding this promotion. The 15GB cloud storage space is permanent, but you must complete this offer by September 30, 2014. Note that OneDrive offers a free 15GB for new users, so you will get at least 30GB of free permanent storage space. -TofuVic
Quote :All you have to do is sign up for OneDrive and activate the auto upload feature for your camera roll sometime between now and the end of September, and you will get 30 GB of free OneDrive storage moving forward (15 GB base and 15 GB camera roll bonus). For those getting ready to install iOS8, this means you won’t have to delete a bunch of photos or apps to make room for the upgrade. For those buying a new phone, it means you can take all the high resolution photos and videos you want without worrying about the amount of storage you have.
Not an iPhone user? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. This also applies to anyone who already uses the OneDrive camera roll on Windows Phone (Windows Phone Store), Android (Google Play Store) and Windows (Download) – you’ll see your storage go up as well. Same for any existing iPhone users who backup their photos to OneDrive.
When you are setting up your new phone with OneDrive, all your photos and videos will be available instantly without taking up precious space on your device. You can also can get more done with the combined power of OneDrive, Office Mobile, and OneNote.
When you turn on sharing the screen shows only 3 GB, but when you check your actual storage space you should have the correct amount.
If seems you do not have to do anything if you already got 3GB for camera roll from http://slickdeals.net/f/6730792.
The 3GB has automatically become 15GB.
Doesn't Work on OneDrive App on Windows phone. Incorrect.
It isn't in the app because it is integrated in the phone's settings. Go to settings>backup>photos+videos>select upload option.
Microsoft states that you can get the Camera Roll bonus by using the OneDrive Application on your Windows computer, however I believe this is only the case with Windows 8.
About the Camera Backup feature: Both Videos and Images are backed up by default. On at least iOS, to have the backup run automatically in the background, you'll need to give OneDrive permission to use your location.
On Android, must have Android 4.0+. Older versions of Android will install an older version of OneDrive App which doesn't have camera roll featurea.
