Green Man Gaming have once again joined forces with the Golden Joysticks and 2K, and are offering all users a free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown!! (while stocks last).

The Golden Joysticks mark a prestigious ceremony on the gaming calendar, where dozens of the year's best games are celebrated on a night of brilliance. There will be games from all genres, from all different kinds of studios. The most amazing thing? It's up to YOU who takes home one of the iconic golden joysticks on award night. All you have to do is cast your vote.

All voters will be able to claim their free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown once voting has ended. We'll direct you on how to claim your free game once the vote has closed. You'll need to be signed up and registered to Playfire, and also have your Steam account linked with Playfire Rewards to be eligible for a free copy of the game!

Games will be given away to verified voters whilst stocks last. Voters have to be 18+
This was a big hit last year when the free games were Mafia II or Civ 5.

YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A CODE UNTIL OCTOBER 23rd.

In order to streamline the process, you must use a CVG account that has the same email as your greenmangaming account (linked to steam through playfire) or else you will not be able to redeem the code.

Unlike last year, I don't see a redirect back to GMG or PlayFire. Last year, you clicked on a link after submitting your votes to go to a claim page.

Are we just supposed to wait this year to get a code without having to do any extra steps?

From my read, as long as you have your account set up and linked properly to your Steam account, it will all be straightforward as soon as the voting period is over. Unlike last year which was a multi-step process that got bogged down under the crush of votes.

Looks like we'll have to wait until October 23rd to get the game:

It seems like as long as you vote with the same email as your playfire account, you're good to go.

Yeah, that seems to be the case based on this line from the link tosh9i posted:

Voters will be directed to the free game giveaway site and from the 23rd of October using the email address you voted with, you will need to sign-up to Playfire (and link to Steam) in order to receive a verification email and game code.
So it looks like I'm gonna have to create another CVG account and vote again.

I'm not seeing anything about xcom on the actual voting website.
