No. SIM locked to T-Mobile. Existing T-Mobile Gold Rewards customers can call after a few months of use and have it unlocked.

I want to buy it just for the GPS feature, heard great things about it. The only question is, does it require an active sim in order to use the GPS software or can it be used without a sim card in the phone?

Do you know if metro pcs will unlock it, since they are with t-mobile?

Would this work fine with t-mobile pay as you go, no contract? My Mom does the once a year thing where she pays like $100 (or less) just for talk minutes. She doesn't care about 3g or have a mobile plan.

I figure this still could be handy for her, if she is near a wifi hotspot. Just want to check first if it'll simply work if I swap the sim.... no extra money, that's it.
