Picked up a Moto G on Verizon's pre-paid plan. Its a basic smartphone. It's was sluggish opening apps. But the screen is decent and, unless you're going to play action or timed games, it should work for most users. (Puzzle games and such should be just fine.)

Ours were $50, but even $60 is not bad, considering what these devices can do.

No experience with Boost Mobile, though. So no TU/TD for me.

3G Only, spend a bit more and get a decent phone. Don't waste your money on this low end garbage, you'll regret it in 6 months.

I have had a Moto G for about 4 to 5 months on Verizon's 3G prepaid plan...Works perfectly and is fast enough for everything I need....A great phone with great reviews

A lot can change in six months. Besides, this is perfect for the $80 per year pay as you go plan.

Specs are nearly the same. Here are some comparisons. Moto G has a higher resolution than the Volt, nearly the same processor, the same memory, the Volt has expandable storage, but the Moto G is limited to 8 gb, the Volt is 4.6 screen vs 4.5 for the Moto G. The Moto G has better water proofing. Also, Volt is capable of 4G, but THIS version of the Moto G is only 3G.

Indeed they can, but you better do it before the rumored blacklisting predicted ~ December. This will be the 3rd of these that I've recently purchased and flashed to PP. I put a slimmed down VZW stock KK 4.4.4 ROM on these and they are quite the phone for the $$. Root it, install Droidwall and Titanium Backup, and it can become quite data stingy. Perfect for the misers (like me) who hate the large bills from Big Red, but can still use their network for great coverage most everywhere.

I was surprised to see this TD'd on the very first view. $10 cheaper than this post, and the same price as this FP deal and you don't even have to leave the house.

Lots of useful information is in that thread.

EDIT for those who want to use on PP: Once rooted with a custom recovery, and the VZW 4.4.4 ROM is installed, flash the Verizon 4.4.4 Stock ROM (Optimized [mega.co.nz]) v1.1 (323mb) described here [xda-developers.com]. Much snappier and takes up less of the limited internal storage. Note that this ROM still contains the necessities for OTG storage and is an OK work around for the lack of an SD card.

this is a great phone for the price, but sprint is really useless

You can also activate this on Ting, which is an awesome carrier if you're a light data user (even more so if you have multiple phones in your family). Ting is especially great if you need reliable voice service everywhere, because even though they're a Sprint MVNO, they have voice/sms roaming on Verizon towers.
