Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share.

I know we've seen under $10o for the Plextor 256GB M5P Extreme before, but it's still mind boggling to see one of the best for $2 more than something like the PNY XLR8.

Get it while you can.

Have not used Visa checkout at newegg.. If I add a Discover card to my Visa wallet, will I get an additional 5% from Discover for online shopping?

Decent enough, but rebate kills it for me.

Last Newegg rebate remained "Awaiting Receipt of Documentation" for weeks. (Even used their address label.)

Newegg is now lumped with TD: Rebates banned for life.

I swear if I keep passing up these deals and ther isn't a decent brand 120/128GB for $40 or a 240/256GB for $70 on BF or CM I'll be PO'd.

never once had an issue with any Newegg or TD rebates, they've all come in... in due time, Newegg just takes forever.
it's OE buddy Wink

with $/G this low, where are the 25$ 60G drives? i just need something small for an old machine... 120G is overkill.

I got one NE rebated denied, but NE is nice enough to issue me a GC for the rebate.

"OE" has different meanings [wikipedia.org], but very cool If you meant from the Hawaiian `oe, "you." Maybe it is me.

Same here, but SSD pricing doesn't seem to work that way. $40 is about the cheapest price for any decent drive.

EDIT:
A call confirmed the materials were "lost," but the CSR gave a fax number for copies. Then after marking the rebate "denied," they processed the faxed copies and changed it to "approved."

Hopefully resolved now, but rebates will always be a gimmicky hassle.

Although you can buy OEM packaged 8 and 16GB mSATA SSDs [mydigitaldiscount.com] under $25 (mSATA is just a few chips on a small pcb, after all), somewhere around $50 the costs associated with putting a 2.5" SSD make it uneconomical / unprofitable.

As the price dropped on the 8, 16 and 32GB 2.5" SSDs they didn't just get cheaper forever, at some point the price tended to floor and models started disappearing. Now the 64GB models are joining the trend and 256GB is the sweet point for price and capacity...

Got Plextor and Corsair. Seems like decent drives. Avoid PNY, too much hassle to go with that brand.

My top tier brand for SSD : Crucial, Samsung, Sandisk, Plextor, Toshiba
2nd tier : Kingston (used to be top), Corsair, OCZ, others

No touch one: PNY
