Not sure about the processing but I am sure it has alot of preservatives and with the help of the packaging in order to keep the food edible for the length of time advertised, but then again food like this is usually supposed to be high in calories so the food lasts longer and you stay full longer.

Ah, so this is more of a food to store in your cellar, should the endtimes come?

Indeed, should these times arise in the next 10 years. I figure 10 years is a pretty good window to have emergency food for.

True. And it probably will still be good after ten years. I'd give it a safe 15 years. haha

This doesn't ship for 3-5 weeks. I ordered one a month ago (and today) for about the same price and I believe amazon has run out since, which is why their price with prime doesn't show up if you search Mountain House. But these are probably the best on the market and have a 25yr shelf life with proper storage (for cans, mentioned 10+ for pouches). Each packet is also 2 servings

While this seems to be a great price based in camelcamelcamel, with only 29 small servings is this a good price if one were to buy 4 units?

I would like to have a month of food for a family of 4 if shtf. I have also seen deals at Costco for large quantities, which I am no expert on.

Thanks OP. I have been waiting for this assortment to dip under $50. I don't need it now (I hope!!!) so waiting a few weeks doesn't bother me.

I am no expert, but I can tell you that the Mountain Home stuff tastes way better than most of the other brands. Unless Costco is selling this brand--it's just not the same. The only other brand that I will even eat is some of the BackPackers Pantry stuff. (we use it mostly for backpacking, but it also can't be beat for SHTF)
